Maui Revealed: The Ultimate Guidebook

Before going to Maui, I felt like I toured the island after reading this book. And, I made many decisions and choices before and during our trip based on the recommendations in the book. I enjoyed each activity and was appreciative of the guidance the book provided. We were also lucky in the fact that this new edition of the book came out this year, right before our trip.

Book is full of great information, great photographs, and great tips. However, the organization is really annoying. There is information regarding separate areas of the island, but the activities in those areas are listed in a different section of the book so you have to flip back-and-forth between the locations, maps, activities, and food to figure out where things are, I prefer guidebooks in which the chapters of areas of the locations have all the information you need in one section of the book. Maps are ok, bit are not very detailed, and lack resturant locations.

We’ve owned this book for just about all the Hawaiian Islands. We found latest edition of Maui to not be as helpful as prior revealed books for other islands. A few adventures we followed the info and found it inaccurate. It was unfortunate as I’ve always found the revealed books to be spot on.

Nice book but they talk about the app so much that I’m left thinking, why did I spend money on this book when I should have just bought the app? And no, there’s no discount on the app once you’ve purchased the book.And why do we have to do every task on our phones? Everything seems to have an app with it now. I spend so much time on my phone, my kids and husband give me a hard time about it, yet everything seems to need an accompanying app in order to get the best/fullest experience.I’m sure the Revealed app is really nice but the last thing I want to do on my vacation is be staring at my phone making use of an app.

I have used many guidebooks over the years and this is my favorite. Lots of good info written in a friendly and interesting style. It will greatly enhance your Maui visit.

This book is THE most comprehensive travel book I have ever read! Maps which are included are very useful indeed! Even and especially if this is your first trip to Maui! This is one in a series of the Hawaiian islands!

I purchased this as a gift for family members after reading the positive reviews, as they were going to Maui and they took the book with them and came back and said that it was very informative and helpful

Great book for first timers!!

We visited/camped in Maui twice before I purchased this! Our third trip was planned for this past May, but COVID had other plans!I am a huge map lover and we're always looking for "off the beaten path" adventure! This guide is amazing ❤️ I wish I'd had it the first two times we went. Written by an educated, fun loving group of Hawaiians this book has it all! Detailed adventures, things to miss if time is of the essence, humor, HISTORY and detailed, descriptive maps that you can not do without! An absolute MUST have for anyone venturing to Maui! Love Love Love this book!

We bought this book to guide us on our recent trip to Maui. It's was great, very accurate and well worth the adventures. Only part not entirely explained is the road past Hana back to Lahaina. It's mostly one lane, cliff side, gravel / rock road, and had random cows. Unless you have an SUV and tons of patience DON'T do it, haha.

Handy book if you’re planning trip to Maui. It’s a long flight over so you’ll enjoy the read and it will help plan your adventures. Great book.Other helpful tidbit, download Shaka Guide App on iOS. It’s basically a tour guide for the island and it’s amazing. Was the MVP of our trip.

My whole very large family just travelled to Maui for a family wedding. We all realized that we had bought different guide books for our research. However, during the trip, everyone gravitated to mine, Maui Revealed. It provided details of hikes, geographical feature, and tourist attractions that could only be made available by someone who had explored them many times. It became a point of pride to find the little details contained in the descriptions (e.g., "the questionable ladder, attached to a questionable rope, attached to a questionable rock" on the way to the Nakalele Blowhole). The sign of an effective guide book is one that is dogeared, underlined, waterlogged, and generally battered through its use. Mine checks all those boxes.
