A cup of coffee, but a good book
A quick read. This was a fun book to read to learn more about the fall of the ill-fated Pilots, but was a bit too short. I guess I gauged it against Ball Four, which was much more detailed. This is a nice complement to Bouton’s book if you have read it — it’s an interest in story. price was a bit high for a paperback.

Seattle Pilots
This is the recollections of one young exec fifty years later. It is an enjoyable read, but not a scholarly work.

Inside Pitch: Funny, serious and nostalgic look at the single-season MLB team, Seattle Pilots
I was 13 years old when the Seattle Pilots took to the field. My dad, who loved baseball, was thrilled that MLB had arrived in our home town. I was too young back then to understand the significance of this team, either to my dad or the city. But this book helped me to appreciate the impact of a major-league franchise on a city with major-league aspirations. And it made me sentimental for my dad. I wish I could share this book with him. I laughed my way through a lot of the behind-the-scenes anecdotes. I know he would have, too. I also learned from reading Inside Pitch how seriously hard our hometown owners and the players worked to make the franchise a success. If you love baseball, I think you will enjoy this book. Reading it will be a great way to pass the time until today's players can hit the field and we can all hear the cry: "Play ball!"
