Review: Qite a ride - Attachment. necrophiles craze for dead body. The movie can be along with ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, ATTACK OF THE KILLER THOMATOES, PINK FLAMINGOS, ERASERHEAD, FANTASTIC PLANNET. But this is the strongest. Graphic, low-budget gore-shocker about Rob and Betty, a couple of ordinary necrophiles who apparently don't mind if their dead sexual partners are not so fresh. Rob's job affords him the opportunity to bring home corpses and the odd body part; when he loses his job, he loses Betty, and Rob's life gets REALLY bizarre. When Rob cannot stand anymore, he kills himself and burried inside the land, guess who came along to dig it? It is an odd movie to watch. When three of them have sex the image becomes afterimage, artistic like, blur so we cannot see all the details. Some will call it an art, some will call it a 70s 80s porn theater look. The movie was shot in 35mm but the final print was 8 mm so what we see is not widescreen so we feel like watching a low budget cheap porninsh film. But thanks to late technology they clearn it all up with HD and the image is very decent. There are a lot of new things to watch. Body parts and all. When I was studing at CalArts MFA program, there is this experimental course showing a long documentary about automsy a most beautiful woman. It started with a naked dead woman. And then they start to dissect her part by part. We see everything from her vulva, vagina breast and everything. It almost feel like it is immoral. And we finally see her inner parts dissected. Her heart, her lung, her breast cut out, her hands, her legs cut out, now nothing's left but a bunch of parts and bloods. There were 100 of students at the beginning but when the film was over there were only 5 inlcude me. This movie was not that shocking and all we see is a rabbit evenly being all cut dead, but it is quit a ride too. There is no true love it's all about craze for something dead body and feel of sex for dead corpse sticky corpse nightmarish. But I tell ya, it's interesting still. Review: Excellent look at the psyche of a man gone mad - First of all, yes this movie is as sick and twisted as youve heard, especially the end, which i belive has to be seen to be belived. This movie is so much more then just a horror movie like another reveiew said, its a look at the mind of a man gone mad. Pushed over the edge after his girlfriend left him for a corpse he can only then find the ultimate sexual fulfilment at the sharp edge of a knife. This a movie that is worth the hefty price you will pay as it will probably never be released on dvd again (god bless the fine folks at Barrel Entertainment, too bad they went belly up). By all means should no one under 18 see this movie. It is grusome, repulsive but in a strange way also beautiful and captivating, one of my all time favorite movie.

What the HELL were these people thinking!?
Jörg Buttgereit's renegade, gut-wrenching, cult-horror flick, NEKRomantik (1987), perplexes and haunts the mind indefinitely. Unfortunately, this film is horribly misunderstood and underappreciated by many who are utterly perturbed after witnessing its disturbing content. However, understanding motivations for, and circumstances related to NEKRomanitk's creation invites respect for the film makers, their creative, artistic abilities, and the work it took to do everything themselves from production to distribution. First, it helps to understand German culture to a degree, specifically in regard to nudity/sexual content on screen. As violence was common and considered acceptable for most viewers in Hollywood productions, so was nudity/sexual content in German films. However, in Germany, violence (if perceived as being glorified) was taboo--films containing such content were prohibited by law. Frustrated with censorship and unwillingness or reluctance to explore the theme of death in film, Buttgereit sought to challenge the status quo. To him, sex/reproduction and death were (and are) prominent features in life and accordingly should not be shunned--hence, NEKRomantik was conceived. Second, Buttgereit and friends never intended this movie to be taken seriously nor to become a success. Not even ranked as low-budget, Buttgereit refers to his films as "no-budget," which is particularly true of NEKRomantik--a weekend project that he and dedicated, unpaid comrades filmed over the course of a year. It was a joint effort in donating materials, lending personal space for shooting, and contributing personal time. Overall, cast and crew had fun and made a movie more for themselves than an audience; thus, I disagree that NEKRomantik is a shock film since Buttgereit said (A) he didn't think it would be taken seriously, and (B) it was comedic due to the movie's outlandish nature. Considering this argument, what's your opinion? Third, none of these people were professionals at the time. Despite being novices, the camera work, most acting, music, and special effects all attest to the talent incorporated. On several occasions, Buttgereit has debunked a rumor that started in the US--special effects were so convincing that people thought the corpse was real. Additionally, music is effectively, masterfully mood setting throughout the film--particularly, the romantic piano tunes establishing the ambience in necrophilic scenes--quite unsettling. Lastly, NEKRomantik was shot on amateur-grade, Super 8 film. After gaining popularity, Buttgereit made a few copies of 35 mm prints for viewing from theater projectors. Today, only one 35 mm print exists, as the others were confiscated/destroyed by authorities--he even served time due to this movie. Having been shown numerous times in theaters world wide, use of the extant print has incurred wear, e.g. scratches, and today makes the movie appear more grainy/dirty compared to its premiere. In a 2013 screening, Buttgereit said the film originally looked "too clean," but on the aged 35 mm print it looks more "Grindhousey" as he'd intended--this Grindhouse version is included on Cult Epics' 2014 release of NEKRomantik on Blu-ray, in addition to the cleanest looking version. Also on this release is a 30 minute comedy-horror short titled Hot Love (1985). Several other bonus features were added to this edition as well--a version which I recommend. SPOILER ALERT Some people are offended by the rabbit scene. In its defense, this scene documents a rabbit farmer's routine slaughtering task--if interested in skinning and eviscerating a rabbit, this segment is educational. So, the animal wasn't harmed for the purpose of NEKRomantik, i.e. the rabbit's fate would have been the same regardless; if you eat meat and find this offensive, that's pretty damned hypocritical. Although obscure, this scene depicts a childhood event (a pet rabbit being killed) that traumatized the male necrophile and influenced perverse, adult proclivities. No other animals in this film were harmed.

So Romantic
I can attest that Jörg Buttgereit's original Nekromantik is one of the best foreign or horror films I've ever seen. OK, we'll call it horror if we must although I see this series as more of a psychological meditation on the fear of death and the fascination with all things dead. Although there is plenty of darkness and morbidity, I still say Buttgereit's artistry is worthy of more than just your average cringe-inducing slasher flick. Having said that, it's easy to understand why the film has had such a shelf life or a much deserved yet underground cult status. Nekromantik ended on a rather somber note. Hey, it's the nature of a beast. If you make a film about necrophilia, you are bound to witness some unbearable tragedy as does our lead character Rob in the original film. Nekromantik 2 replays the rather graphic if not bloody suicide although this time around the montage is absent of color. I would strongly suggest watching the original first or you're going to be a tad disenfranchised or rather confused for a few moments. Monika (Monica M.) slowly makes her way through the graveyard to dig up our fresh, young corpse. Initially, we are unsure whether Betty's character(Rob's girlfriend in the first film) has been replaced by a different actress or if we are being introduced to a new female character altogether this time around with similar characteristics. Later on, we do see Betty visit Rob's grave only to discover it has already been robbed which helps the viewer. We then realize that Monica M is Buttgereit's new creation & we are about to take on yet another journey into the realms of darkness. After bringing Rob's corpse back to her apartment, Monika proceeds to undress the cadaver and my readers can guess the rest. I won't go into specifics here but I think it's fair to say you already know what to expect if you're reading this review. Upon cleaning the corpse, she then decides to take a few Polaroids of herself with our deceased Rob. Not long after spending time with the deceased, Monika meets Mark at the local theater where his date has stood him up yet once again. He offers her the ticket as a courtesy and it would the two of them have hit it off or things might take a turn for the better. Mark earns his keep dubbing porn for a living but appreciates the avantguard cinema as it has nothing to with his line of work. He knows nothing of Monika nor her extreme fascination with death. Shortly after establishing what would seem to be a solid relationship with Mark, Monika then proceeds to dispose of Rob's human remains save the head and the genitals. Even though the viewer still feels a bit uneasy about the newfound relationship, many will believe that our lead has finally found true love at last and will eventually give up on copulating with the recently deceased. Sadly, her fascination with the dead or dying actually increases and Mark begins to notice things aren't quite as kosher with his new lady friend as he would like. Unfortunately, he's in love and is well past the point of no return. While not as good nor as well paced as the original, I really applaud Buttgereit for not retreading the same territory on the second time around. I also give him kudos for touching upon the feminist aspect while actually giving the viewer what they really want. SEX AND GORE. Not to say that Nekromantik 2 is just a filthy blood bath as the film continues to carefully examine & clearly define the unnatural ways that people themselves deal with death or their feelings about intimacy. Nekromantik is a bold series and I only wish our director would've granted us one more film for the road although I can't really imagine what more he could possibly do with the given material. Nekromantik 2 also strays from some of the dark humor of the original although the hallucinogenic scenes are still to be found as well as a few montages of animal cruelty. In Buttgereit's defense, these shots of animal cruelty weren't made exclusively for the Nekromantik series and we shouldn't indite the director for such. These shots were made of humans destroying animals in situations that take place everyday. While I do not condone the torture or killing of animals, I strongly believe that Buttgereit uses this footage to further elucidate the madness of his lead characters. Ironically, Daktori Larenz (lead actor in the first Nekromantik) lends his scope of expertise to the soundtrack here which is quite brilliant. The music is neither campy nor too creepy but gives the perfect pitch to induce a rather moody atmosphere. I only wish I could buy a legit copy of this film on DVD just to obtain the soundtrack which exists on the second disc. Not a film for all tastes of course as much of the material would only appeal to weirdos like myself who have that acquired taste but Nekromantik 2 is definitely not a waste of time either. Grab it if you can still find it. It's getting to be harder and harder to find in local markets these days. Sad.

SHOCKING SICK SEQUEL
Warning this movie contains nudity, graphic sex and bloody violence that is highly offensive so if you are offended by any of these PLEASE DO NOT watch this movie because you get exactly what the title suggests. This shocking sick symbolic sequel starts immediately when the first film ends. It is a love story of a beautiful nurse who tries to overcome her taboo desires when she falls in love with someone. The first act is shocking, the second act purposefully slow which will annoy gore hounds as it builds up to an even more shocking climax than the first one. Each film symbolizes a different part of Germany, East vs West. The first film had frequent shocking scenes, one after another along with a dark sense of humor and and an unforgettable double ending. This film has a darker serious tone with a slow burn that leads to a even more disturbing violent, bloody unforgettable double ending than the first movie had. The director wisely made a different movie than the first one instead of just repeating the first one. Those who like numerous gory scenes with humor may prefer the first film but the viewers who enjoy a darker more disturbing film will enjoy this sequel better than the first.

The most grotesque and macabre film ever
This film permanantely scarred me the first time I saw it, and I wasa only twelve years old at the time. This film is definitely not for anyone but fans of the odd and macabre. It is not reallhy a horror film though other than just utterly disgusting. But I love these kind of films. It pushes the boundaries more than any other film I have ever seen in dealing with necrophilia. One of the most shocking films on celluloid. The film almost looks like a snuf film and its the most grotesque films I have ever witnessed. Its like running a soldering iron through your brain. Once you see it you will be scarred for life. NO KIDDING! Do not let the kids see this one. I have seen just about every horror film in the world and this is the most macabre. Pleasant viewing.

Not Taboo, Ta-boring Is More Like It
I've read a lot of reviews for this film, and picked up both films from a store in the city after just being curious and looking to add to my horror collection. I enjoyed the first film very much, but this one is just terrible. I heard it was nowhere near as good as the first, but i didnt expect it to be THIS BAD. Just as others have said, there are a bunch of pointless scenes where nothing is being said or done. The first sex scene with the corpse is long, not shocking and just plain boring. This is supposed to be taboo i guess, but it really just puts you to sleep. I know the director wanted to do something different and not just rehash the first film, but it could have been so much better. If you edit out the few gore sequences, its more like a boring date movie than anything else. If you can find the find the first one, pick that up. Do yourself a favor and save your money on this snoozefest.

***Rotting Romance***
Before viewing this film you will need to prepare yourself for: Animal abuse, necrophilia, corpse cunnilingus, decomposing body parts and a very dark and deranged love story!!! If that's your thing you will surely enjoy this masterpiece. The SFX are hit and miss, but know doubt enough to get the point across, overall very, very twisted. The sound track is great and the picture quality sets the grim mood of the film, almost enough to make you feel dirty! Nekromantik is classic shock gore that divulged subject matter that horror/cult writers of that time era were either too disgusted by or too terrified by and not to mention the death threats and possible repercussions of completing a film this explicit. This film paved a new pathway to the obscene and perverse and the ultimate taboo-- NECROPHILIA!!! A great film and story, definitely worth the hefty price tag and absolutely essential to any real horror collection!

LIMITED EDITION OF 2000 COPIES に飛びつくのは考えもの!作りが雑!
こちらはBookletなし、 INCLUDE NEKROMANTIK COLLECTIBLE ARTWORK BY JOHNNY RYAN & NEKROPHILIA PHOTO OF BEATRICE M.

Not for the faint of heart
I am going straight to the point if you really enjoy gory and viewing dead corpses this movies delivers .This movie is not for the faint of heart.\ It starts out with a bunch of guys dressed up in reflective vests driving around digging up dead rotting corpses like some kind of road kill left over from bad car accidents. .It is hard to tell if the corpses are real or not the camera work is not great..They basically return the bodies to a house where a girl and a guy attach a fake penis to the corpse and then start having sex with this corpse. This is a very very low budget flick not worth having on Blu ray it does not improve the quality of the picture.

"..MORBID YET BRILLIANT 80'S HORROR GETS TOP BLU-RAY.."
Yet again Arrow films have outdone themselves with an amazing Blu-ray package, Nekromantik is a very unique and disturbing movie made in the 80's that deals with morbid fantasies about death and such, I think even now for the time it was made its still a very disturbing film and has the same effects on anyone watching it, the movie is a bout a couple who live together and both have a fascination for death, Rob works for a company clearing up dead bodies at accidents etc and has the opportunity to bring home souvenirs for his collection, it ranges from eyes, hearts and a full corpse which they sleep with, when he loses his job his girlfriend leaves him and life starts to go down hill for Rob, the movie is full of graphic images of sex with bodies, bloody dead corpses at accidents, animals being tortured and skinned, plus a load of other gory scenes and perverse sexual acts etc, this movie is certainly not for anyone, you will love it or hate it, its pretty hard-core and very unique and there's nothing quite like it, I say its sick yes and its a masterpiece in its own right yes, even though its grisly to want to watch you have to watch it, its also a grounded in reality horror story too, if your a hard-core horror buff make sure you check this one out! you certainly wont forget it. Blu-ray picture is great remastering, plays in Aspect ratio 1:33:1 (borders at the sides) The limited edition has more special features for the money than you could possibly ever need, hour and hours worth! plus an amazing 98page book! And a copy of the CD soundtrack with 27 tracks, art cards, and limited 3000 copies certificate. Region B only, 71mins feature, 1987/2014 German language with English subtitles.
