Luca

Luca is one of the sweetest and most adorable Disney/Pixar films!! The very retro 1950s/1960s ambience (music, clothes, etc) is the perfect nostalgia needed these days! A beautiful piece of cinematic art set in the Italian Riviera! The music is stunning and worth owning on its own. This is a lovely story about friendship, family, kindness, sacrifice and putting others first. The script is both humorous and touching. Supporting characters are thoroughly well done instead of just slapped in the background. In my opinion, the best Pixar film since Cars! This film is pure, sweet, funny and uplifting. An addition to any home- a great movie for both children AND adults to enjoy! Bravo!

My kids and I love this movie. The music is wonderful, it teaches a lot about compassion and understanding of people that are different than yourselves. It's an adorable movie. So glad we bought it.

We started to watch it and the baby didn't really pay it much attention so we turned it off it was really great quality

Perfect for all ages, minimal conflicts and nothing scary.

Pixar has been “missing” and not hitting for me lately. But because I watched Elemental and LOVED it, I decided to go back and watch some of the other Pixar movies I missed. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Luca. The message of the movie is that of freedom. That there is a line between allowing your children to be free to explore their passions (in this case, Luca’s passion to purse an education of the human world) and being too controlling (parents wanted to take him deeper into the ocean away from the surface, similar to being locked away in the house). That being TOO controlling can result in your children resenting you and thus disobeying and acting out. That theme is VERY similar to The Little Mermaid, but with a young boy. It is also a message of friendship, sacrifice and sharing. Basically of controlling love versus unselfish love. It was beautiful. The musical score was also incredible. I am sort-of getting bored with the photorealistic look to every movie, but it is pretty if you like that. All in all, it’s really good. Interestingly enough, received an “Only at Target” edition.

Seems to be set in the late 50's or early 60's on the low rent section of Italian Riviera. These Sea monkeys out a water are just so clueless, cute & plucky. Scales or no, you just can't help but root for them. Last time a Vespa was so important to a movie's plot was in Roman Holiday. Granted most kids won't get the classic Italian cinema Easter eggs, but many of us adult cinephiles will. Fun story, well written & beautifully rendered. I wanted to go for a swim in those Mediterranean waters. Voice actors top notch. Grand Ma fish & uncle "Deep Dive" at the end are a FOFL hoot! Also DVD came on time and in great condition. Price was nice too.
