What is the throat thickness? I have Mastic Ceder Shake and none of the nail slot punches I have tried wil clear a 7/32" shingle.

I don't know the actual throat thickness, but I used this successfully on certainteed cedar impressions double 7" perfection siding which is a very thick siding.

You'd think they could say what it does. Does this punch the oblong nail slots in vinyl siding?

Yes it cuts an oblong nail hole it as not as long as factory nail slots but the same thing otherwise

Will these punch holes in 24 ga galvanized steel siding?

It is made to punch holes in vinyl siding. It punches an elongated slot. I do not think you can use it on metal as it is tough to punch thick vinyl.

what is the throat depth? How far in does it cut the slot?

The throat depth is 5/8 inch and the slot it makes is 5/32 x 3/4 inch. It is made for vinyl siding only. If trying to use on J channel, it does not fit over J channel wall to punch a drainage hole.
