Bookworm and the Beast: A Small Town Enemies to Lovers RomanceEastport Bay Billionaires, Book 1By: Tru TaylorNarrated by: Laney Scott, Roman StrongTru Taylor pens another fabulously delightful romantic comedy set in her “Eastport Bay Billionaires” series, a series of standalone novels, each book features different lead characters that may have connections with others in the series but everything you need to know about them in the descriptive details so you will never feel lost or that you missed something. Another connection is that each book is fairytale inspired, and “A Beauty and the Beast” inspired this one. This book grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it the entire time, the characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they are easy to care about too. I adored the lead characters, Bonnie Hamelin and Jack R.R. Bestia even when he was at his grumpiest and I loved their first interaction, Jack’s book signing, Bonnie fan girling, it was a great scene, a memorable one for both but in different ways. Bonnie, an aspiring author, put her dream to write her own book aside while working for the Daily Report and helping to care for her Dad. When her boss offers her an assignment of a lifetime, an exclusive interview with an author who rarely does them, Jack R.R. Bestia, she was reluctant to take the assignment, afraid he would remember her from their awkward encounter at his book signing two years earlier. Jack does not do interviews and is not happy about having to do this one, he has had a rough year and is struggling, which is not something he wants to share with his fans or his publisher. He does not plan on spending too much time with her, but he did not plan for the whole interview to go south. Bonnie noticed how much Jack had changed from the first time she met him, he is more of a beast and acts like one too. He infuriated her, but then he turns around and does the right thing, until he doesn’t. I loved how everything played out in this cleverly plotted story, it has a perfect balance of drama, angst, humor, heartfelt emotions and a slow burn but oh so worth the wait romance. Tru Taylor, thank you for another fabulously delightful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Laney Scott and Roman Strong had a complete understanding of the characters they were portraying, gave each a voice that suited that character’s persona and was believable in every role they played. Laney Scott nailed it as Bonnie grasped every side of her personality and Roman Strong did the same for Jack, grumpiness and all. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into their performance and had you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers were a pleasure to listen to and their narration enhanced an already amazing story to another level. Thank you for this great listen.

Funny and sexy! Great quick read!
I enjoyed this so much, I will definitely be picking up the rest of the series. It was the perfect length for a quick read, and even though it did require a little suspension of disbelief (as all fairytale [retellings] do) it was still so well thought out and paced.Sometimes I am wary of short books for this reason and I did not have that issue with this book!

Loved it
Jack Bestia has a signing at Strand's. He is Bonnie's favorite author and she totally fangirl's him. Two years later she has to do an interview with him as her newspaper assignment. While he may not remember her, she remembers what happened. Now he is a recluse and has writer's block. To get the interview she has to sign a non-disclosure agreement or no interview. He has been burnt in the past and has no trust. His household staff hopes Bonnie may change his mind/heart. But will she? Will she calm the Beast?I loved this book! I loved the humor especially their first encounter at Strand's. There are other scenes that made me laugh. I liked Bonnie and Jack. Bonnie does not take his garbage. She gives it back to him and then some. When she gets mad at him, he is shaking in his shoes. She makes him question his actions often. His brother has a habit of taking Bonnie's side during their phone calls. Both Bonnie and Jack seem to know exactly what buttons to push to set the other one off. I enjoyed Bonnie's takeover of Jack's staff. Bonnie's dad is great. He's pushing her into living and not through books. Mrs. Potts, Jack's housekeeper, is doing the same to him.The story is a modern retelling of the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale. I like the two-sided telling of the story. It is my favorite fairy tale and this is a superb retelling of it. I laughed though it and I could stand in Bonnie's shoes and feel what she was feeling--her embarrassment, her anger, her love, her disappointment. I look forward to Hunter's, Jack's brother, story.

Kinda cute!
The premise was so darn cute. I loved the fmc she was sweet and kind.MMC was where I had a few issues. He was so hot and cold with not a lot of reason why. Other than that it was a cute contemporary beauty and the beast retelling.

Cute
I love fairy tale retelling of all kind and this one was short and sweet. A nice cozy read you could easily finish in a day if you wanted to. Not super spicy but had decent build up with lots of tension

Very clever!
This was a very clever retelling of the story of Beauty and the Beast, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was fun, and engaging, and I loved all of the characters and the way the author fit them all into the plot. There's enough twists that it wasn't just simply a word for word rendition of Beauty and the Beast, it had little changes that kept you guessing. I was actually disappointed when it came to an end, I enjoyed it so much.

Took a chance…
I didn’t know the author or the book so it was a shot in the dark. I’m so glad I gave it a try because it has everything a good rom-com needs; witty banter, a cute couple, romance, and a tale as old as time.Take a chance, you’ll thank me later.

Liked it
A nice retelling of Beauty and the Beast with a literary twist of the reclusive bestselling author and the editorial reporter. I enjoyed the interactions between the main characters and the staff of the mansion, thought I would have maybe liked a bit more cameos from Mrs Potts and Bonnie's dad. Overall would recommend it.

A bit Disney?
I have enjoyed this story a great deal and the references to the Disney film. However it was a little over done initially. Fortunately it stopped just short of becoming sickly! Otherwise the characters were well developed and the book well edited.

Cute and Steamy quick read.
I liked this book. It's a cute play on Beauty and the Beast but done well. Honestly I was expecting it to be a bit cheesy but it was good. I read it through in one sitting and was impressed with the steamy scenes. I saw a few reviews saying too much sex lol but it's really not if anything I've definitely read more heated books and enjoyed them just the same. Nice writing style, playful and fun. If you're looking for a good read until the end on a rainy day.. this book is for you.
