Jantex Tubluar Glue Tape is a great method - far simpler & less mess than regular tubular glue !
Wonderful stuff, eliminates the need for messy tubular glue.About the same as the Tufo tubular glue tape, at a better price, as the box does 2 tires not just 1 = Great Value !It held all year, through hundreds of rides & some 10 races. In fact, tire wore out first.Just a small learning curve to use. Be sure to use a hair dryer to remove old tire & most / all of the glue tape when it's time to remove the old tire.If you use enough heat, the tire & glue tape should all come off. If not, just heat & peel off tape / glue residue from rimUpon application, you remove the first protective anti-stick layer, and with the rim in the forks of bike upside down, or having a friend hold by axle, slowly rotate & apply sticky sided of tape, pushing down in center to contact. It's the width of most typical rims (19mm I think), so it will fit neatly into tire 'trough'.Once applied to rim, the outer anti-stick layer is still on outside of tape, then with say 20 psi in tubular tire, slip it over the tape & position it perfectly centerered. Be sure to leave about 1" of so of anti-stick layer off either side next to valve stem so that it can be pulled out later.(Btw: For ease of installation, it's imperative that you 'pre-stretched' tubular tire by leaving overnight on 'dry' rim (even a clincher rim is ok) with up to 100 psi in tire, this prepares the tire to fit neatly over rim for actual glue tape install.)With tire visually centered, grab that 1" of anti-stick film & gently pull from between now mounted tire & rim. Glue won't 'hard set' until you put 'riding pressure' on tire & rim, so minor re-positioning of tube / rim alignment is possible if required.Spin rim / tire assembly & view from both angles to make sure it's well mounted & straight. Then fill to 100psi & gently test ride. The pressure from your weight will help "set" the glue tape.Once ridden for a few hundred yards on hot pavement, it will be firmly set & unable to be removed absent heat & lots of side pressure.(Your thumbs will get a workout when removal time comes, LOL)I used this on Carbon fiber 40mm road wheels to apply both training & racing tubulars.I had prior avoided tubulars due to the mess of traditional glue or the $$$ of having the shop glue them & waiting. Then my friend who was a 'Clydesdale' (210 # + rider) and raced crits in Dallas all summer told me about the tape method & how it held his weight even in the hot summer crits. We used it & found the method of application simple & the results to be strong & reliable.Hope this helps any who are considering this tubular taping method.

Cheap. Easy to install/uninstall. Reliable adhesion.
THE GOOD / Cheap. Easy to install/uninstall. Reliable adhesion.THE BAD / In case of a flat, you won't have enough tackiness to hold the new tub.THE BOTTOM LINE / At around $11, the Velox Jantex rim tape is a bargain since it comes with enough tape for 2 wheels, unlike the Tufo tape or the Effetto Mariposa rim tape. After clocking in about 2000 miles riding through heat, dirt and rain, the tape has held on very well with a reliable adhesion. Tire removal was easy. There was minimal residue left, which might not be ideal if you get a flat and needed the extra tackiness to hold the spare tub to the wheel. Overall, as a first time tubular wheelset user, I must say that am impressed and am glad I chose tape over glue.

Kind of like Tufo tape
Works well. If you get the tape with a paper backer then you'll have some issues because the paper tears. The red plastic backer is easier to work with and makes installing a new tubular a cinch. It's like using the tufo tape but doesn't glue as tightly. So, i'd avoid it if I were a crit racer.... but I am not.... I am a cheap roadie and this works fine for me. I've gone 40+mph downhill, ridden in 100 degree heat, and the tape has held my tires.

Adheres two tires to two rims
I bought a vintage road bike with rotted tubulars. The bike has 20mm rims and I was installing 24mm tires. I purchased this tape because it is priced reasonably, one roll does two tires, I will not be putting hige demands on my tires and I wanted to avoid messing with glue. After prepping the tire and rim (mainly cleaning and pre-stretching) installation was straightforward. I rode for a couple days, then deflated to check adhesion. The adhesive from the 18mm tape seems to have oozed all the way to the edge of the 20mm rim, and the tire seems well-adhered. I'm quite satisfied.Note that the older version of this tape was intended to be used only in combination with glue. However, this version is designed to be used by itself, and seems to work well.

Great Tubular Tape
Love this stuff, works much better than others on the market for a few reasons. 1. Provides plenty of holding power, tire does not move on the rim. 2. When removing, tire comes off the rim without 30 minutes of effort, and, tape typically sticks to the tire not the rim. 3. If replacing the same tire again a thin coating of rubber cement will reactivate the tackiness and holding power.

Great Tape
I'm never messing with glue again. This tape worked great and haven't had any issues.

Super simple installation!
I have always glued my tires on in the past but doing so is a seriously tedious task. Taped tires were always said to be "slower". I'm past all that now and decided to try the tape.Installation was super simple and well worth any superstitious "slowness" due to the tape. I applied the tape starting from the valve hole, pulling the tape gently to add some tension to it. Go slow and the tape will land straight and even. Pulling some of the plastic off the tape is pretty simple with a small, thin, sharp knife. I installed my pre-stretched tire and added a few PSI. Straighten the tire and add one or two more pumps. Straighten some more and add one or two more pumps. If all looks well and good then pull the tape dangling out from the tire and inflate to full pressure. The result is seeming solid and very straight application of a tubular tire.I don't know what it will be like to remove the tire and tape but removal is never easy. Maybe I'll wait 10 years for everything to dry out to a crisp and then it will simply flake off? :)By the way, after applying the tape to two rims I had about 2" left over. Don't waste the tape because they don't give you much extra.

Velox Felgenband
