Concentrated... keep in mind it doesn't smell pretty!
I have a dry scalp in the winter, and this shampoo minimizes itching and flaking. It feels good when I apply it, and a little goes a very long way in comparison to "regular" shampoos. The smell is... an acquired taste, but it doesn't linger after washing; my hair smells fine after it dries. Recommended.

I've tried every shampoo for Eczema
I've tried pretty much every shampoo for Eczema and dry scalp. The only one that seemed to work was a particular brand of coal tar, that isn't being made anymore. My eczema is particularly bad in the summer. I searched online, and while I get the benefits of using all natural products, my experience is that they don't usually work as well as the chemical stuff (I know, horrible to say). So anyway, I decided to try it and when this stuff arrived I noticed that it said it works as an insect deterrent as well (WHAT?!). We have a camper so I packed it up and figured if it doesn't work for eczema, it can be my camp shampoo anyway... First time I used it I was having a hard time w eczema scalp (did I mention I didn't expect a lot)... First, the smell is amazing to me. I see all of the comments saying that it stinks. It smells like campfire, and I love it. It felt great, and I had to check the label to see if it was shampoo & conditioner, because that's how it felt. It wasn't, and actually I hated to use conditioner over the top of my campfire smell lol. But I did.I have thick, mangley, curly brown hair. It wasn't curly all my life and most of the time I just look like a cave lady because I don't know what to do with it. Every hairdresser straightens it, even though I tell them I'm not going to do that.I put in a little bit of coconut/Shea butter creme after using this shampoo and before I went to bed. When I woke up the next morning, my curls were soft, my eczema was already minimal (shocking!) and I didn't have to sign my hair down before going outside. So, I'm not kidding when I tell you that this stuff works. If you have course/dry hair, eczema on your scalp, or just like campfire smells... Get it. You will not regret it. As far as the insect deterrent, I can't really say if it helps because I use a conditioner over it, but if you're a dude I'd try it.

Works but STINKS
Ok, let me first say this stuff works. I have a problem with dry scalp and nothing has solved it. In one shampoo it almost entirely cleared up. It’s awesome. But, and this is a big but, it.smells.terrible. I mean TERRIBLE. I can do tea tree oil. I can do strong pine scent. I was expecting a strong piney, tar scent. But this smells EXACTLY like a park toilet. Not the nice parks that have the Visitor’s Center...the parks that leave their bathrooms open all year and the toilet is basically a hole in the ground with a toilet seat. They all smell the exact same and, when I opened this bottle in the shower, I recognized it immediately. I actually gagged. It smells like you took all the sludge from all those bathrooms and put it in a bottle. So I thought, ok, it will go away once you rinse your hair. I used the strongest smelling conditioner I have. Nope. Still smells. I spritzed perfume on my hair. Nope. My mom hugged me later that day and paused. She literally said, “don’t take this the wrong way but you smell like a toilet.” I had a family get together later that week and I brought out the bottle. I played guess that smell. My entire family, who likes to hike and have frequented many parks that have such bathrooms, agreed on the smell. It’s not just me. This stuff is rank.BUT it works. Will I still use it? Yeah, I will. Also, up side, I lighten my hair to about a level 10 blonde and it does not darken my hair. So, another good thing about it if you were wondering. Many tar shampoos are not color safe for bleached blondes. Will I buy it again? I’m not sure. It’s good stuff I just don’t know if I can get past the smell. I’ll probably try some other tar products to see if they work. If not, I’ll just walk around smelling like a toilet.

Very good shampoo
This shampoo works great on African hair between washings. My wife uses it between her cornrows and when she undoes the do, washes it repeatedly with th9s shampoo. A little bit goes a long way. It is soothing and has a very pleasant tingly feeling as it works on the scalp. Dandruff is gone in one washing. We love the smell that comes out as you wash your hair. It is piney and a little smoky, but smells great. It is NOT perfume. It is powerful shampoo that deep cleans.
