Elvis Style: From Zoot Suits to Jumpsuits

Boring probably inaccurate fashion
This shows a then and now status quo Elvis Presley. I read a much more fun book on his fashion I bought on Beale Street. I would like to think the Beale Street book was the accurate one.

A Wonderful Addition to Any Book Collection!
I would not call myself and avid reader - but Elvis Style is a wonderful - even to me!! The photos are gorgeous and the verbiage flows beautifully and is easy to understand. It was a perfect size for my flight from Florida to California. I love it because there are so many books about Elvis - but this is the first one I have ever seen that exclusively covers his style. There is even insight into why he liked certain things that he wore. It is an incredible look at Elvis from a different take that I know I will enjoy over and over. I tell all my friends about this book.

Must read!!!
One of the best Fashion style books I've read in a long time!I love how this book covers not only amazing Elvis fashion, but also the world that surrounded him; from where he lived to what he liked to eat.And as a textile designer I really appreciate how the author covers the designers and makers who worked behind the scenes to create a style icon.Jam packed with great photos and well written captions too, which makes it a pleasure to read!

Brilliant insights into The King of style!
I loved this book! Packed with information and images I hadn't seen before, it is a fascinating look at how Elvis became such a style icon. Would also make a good gift for an Elvis fan.

As soon you open it, you will find Elvis ...
As soon you open it, you will find Elvis Style completely absorbing.- certainly not a book to dip into – you won't be able to put it down. The book offers far more than a survey of Elvis' changing appearance throughout his musical career. It establishes Presley's active interest in clothes and accessories from his early days – he persuaded his grandmother to embroider motifs on his shirt! And we are shown the street fashion and other cultural influences that Presley absorbed, and made so much his own. He was no puppet, manipulated for audience appeal, but someone who designed himself, and for himself.Zoey Goto extends idea of “style” beyond the performance costumes, covering Elvis' cars and homes, revealing his taste and personality – down to such exotic details as the golden hand wash-basin on his private plane! If you buy this book as a gift for the Elvis fan in your life, you'll need another for yourself! The lucid writing and the deft management of very varied material makes this a truly enjoyable read: Zoey Goto has style too!
