This is the BEST book series for young kids! My daughters have loved these from the ages of 5-9. We have all the princess in black books! Great chapter books to start out with. I found these books wonderful for little girls that can read on their own. My 6yo daughter LOVES THEM so much we ended up buying the entire collection. She laughs, it's easy to read and a very fun book collection.
