Great book on treatment free beekeeping
As a treatment free beekeeper, I thought this book was very well written and insightful. It made me think about the way I keep bees and how I can improve and tweek my technique. It's a book I will reference again and again.

THE BEST introduction to beekeeping anywhere. I highly recommend this book if you are getting into beekeeping - it is clear, beautifully written, superbly illustrated and all beekeepers can find something new in this book - but especially for someone just getting started in beekeeping - the clarity, the straightforward, unambiguous prose is clear and understandable. Everything is laid out in a practical and beautiful manner that is perfect for the reader. I use this for my students new to beekeeping in a one hour intro to bees lecture and insist, if they are serious about getting into bees, this is the FIRST book to buy. All others can come afterwards because you cannot go wrong with this one!

Excellent for new beekeepers
It was a gem of a little book with so much amazing information! I loved the hands off approach because the bees have been here forever and we just get in the way!

I keep one tattered copy in my bee kit and another nice one in my bee library
I mentor as an urban beekeeper in Southern California and this is one of the three books I insist on new students owning, reading and referring back to. It's informative, practical and realistic in a world full of bee books and it is one of the few (if any) books that is well suited to multiple climates. I keep one tattered copy in my bee kit and another nice one in my bee library. Beautiful photography, as well.

Save the Bees.
I thought there would be more "natural" hives made from logs and baskets. Since I got it for DH and did not read it, I cannot make a fair review of the content.

and a great need is being met with the publication of this ...
The interest in beekeeping without chemical management is soaring, and a great need is being met with the publication of this unique book. As a beekeeper in California with 28 colonies of feral sourced, untreated and foundation-less managed bees, I can vouch that this source is the BEST we have of countering a disastrous trend in the health of managed honey bee colonies. The layout and photos are gorgeous, the spine of the book is thoughtfully considered for ease of use so it lays open flat without the pages detaching after many readings. But most important, the information contained within is strongly supportive of the message that we humans must develop more biologically informed ways of working with these wild insects. Finally, we have a book that faces head-on from the first chapter the disastrous path humans have been on with their bees for several decades, and offers hope and guidance for a return to REAL beekeeping!

Great advice on treatment-free bee keeping.
Just finished reading Save the Bees and found it very helpful. I've been beekeeping for about 4 years now, but still am learning something new with every book I read. Save the Bees is no exception, plus it is a great guide for people looking to simplify their beekeeping ways toward natural, treatment-free beekeeping. The photos are beautiful, too. Made me want to go out an inspect my hive right away!

Its a good book with lots of info. Unfortunately it quotes average material prices but everywhere I look its double that. I tried contacting the writers to ask for suggestions but I got no answer.
