Un-put-downable
Excellent book, very well written, very enjoyable.Only complaint is no page numbers. In a very thick book, if your marker falls out, makes it hard to find your place. (Just prefer book to kindle.)

An intriguing read.
I've only read the first story but found it interesting and in parts, amusing. The storytelling is very descriptive but I think it's necessary to set the scene. I'm unsure if I will read any more installments after reading the second story, it depends on where the second one takes the storyline.

Exciting and riveting..
Having read both these books, they are an amazing start to an awesome series of exciting and descriptive trails. Keeping you enthralled and pleased all the way through.

Not terrible, but not very good either.
I don't know if its the narator's somewhat flat delivery or the author's lacklustre writing style (possibly both) but I didn't even get through the first book before giving up.The main protagonist isn't very engaging - his pet dogs seem to have more appeal than he does - and there was just nothing that drew me into the story. By the time he was trying to talk down a mob of wannabe-vampires intent on rescuing their friend from being questioned, I found I really couldn't care less who (or what?) the murderer was, I just wanted this somewhat boring bloke, who seemed permanently stuck-in-a-rut with remeniscences about his army days, to shut up.it wasn't awful, but it was dull andnot entertaining enough for me to bother continuing to listen.

An Interesting Premise
I have just read the first two books included in this package. I doubt whether I'll be reading more. Whilst the underlying premise is intriguing (a paranormal investigator who doesn't believe in the paranormal finds rational explanations for the reported phenomena) it is not original (any one remember an American cartoon featuring a dog?) Secondly, the main protagonist, supposedly mature, and his friends seem to be stuck in some sort of late twentieth century "lads" culture where women are valued only for their utility i.e. their availability for sex and their attractiveness I find this irritating and offensive and will thus be avoiding this authors work in future.

Somewhat misogynistic.
The poor grammar detracts from an interesting premise . The description of women is tedious and, in places, unpleasant but the novel plots do carry you along to some extent. The narrator sometimes struggles with punctuation. Yet still I listened to all of the first book and about half of the second before giving up.

Could be a good story but do not know
Had to return the audio book for credit as the narration was so bad

Good reads
Steve Higg writes a moving story line. I’ve enjoyed both his Miss Fisher and Blue moon.

Hour filling
Interesting but tedious after awhile with useless drama and overused home scenes.

Mostly a bad series.
Won't be buying any more by this author. OK to burn up a weekend.
