Great pumps.
Of all the products I've ever bought from EKWB, their D5 pumps are the only ones that have never disappointed me. This was my first G3 version, it can rev even slower than the older ones I've used, but throughout the entire RPM range it's even quieter than the older ones were.It definitely moves a lot of water at full speed, and it can handle a decent amount of back pressure too.The only problem I've really ever had with an EKWB D5 is one that stopped sending RPM information... randomly that one will for a short time, and then stop again, but that's literally the only problem I can think of that I've ever had with one.Definitely I was willing to pay the extra $50-60 to get another EKWB vs. a lesser brand, and though I never tried the cheaper one before, I feel like I would have been disappointed if I hadn't paid the EKWB tax. It's pretty much the only EKWB product that hasn't disappointed me for any significant reason.

Had to replace my failing d5 g3 pvm pump so .. this was a no brainer!
Unfortunately after 3 years my g2 pump has failed. In nearly 20 years of water cooling this is only the second pump that has failed on me. These things have even lasted me for multiple computers, 3-5 years 24/7 use.I had a really annoying clicky grind sound that came and went for about a week, then finally, it got REALLY loud, and the pump just flat-out died mid-game. Counter strike FPS went from 250-300 to 30. lol I knew exxatly what it was and powered down.,Two days later, the new pump arrived, and I got it installed. The new ones are SATA instead of Molex, which at first was annoying because I didn't have an extra handy, but long term, this was a smart idea. I only had Molex in my system for LED and the pump. These are high-quality pumps with amazing performance. I think you could use them in a small pool.

A D5 pump
I have both the EKWB EK-Loop D5 G3 PWM and the PrimoChill Enhanced PWM D5. The EKWB is a bare pump only. No mounting hardware whatever is provided, not even an o-ring. What a cheap-out. The PrimoChill at least provides a quality o-ring. The EKWB seems to produces reasonable output maybe a couple of L/H less than the PrimoChill but not sure as I have different pump tops on them both and pump tops matter a lot (Bykski D5 Pump Top Kit Version 2 is good). The EWKB has a faint whine so not as quiet as the PrimoChill. On both, the PWM cable provides the tach-out and PWM-in signals but neither provide the ground signal reference which again is a cheap-out. Ridiculous to reduce cost by removing one whole wire -- especially considering the overall pricing. The EKWB is powered is by a SATA connection that you may like. I do not, I prefer Molex. The EKWB is less expensive than the PrimoChill version but I have both and prefer the quieter PrimoChill pump (better build quality too). I have had many D5 pumps work for over 10 years with never a failure. So a small difference in price is irrelevant in the long run.Get either one (PrimoChill or EKWB), all of the many D5 pump brands I have used have worked out well. The cheaper non-D5 pumps on offer are much noisier, have less output (that matters a lot) and not as durable. Avoid those, they are a waste of money.

works as advertised
For those who need the Ek water block this works. This is my second one the last one lasted about 2 years which i feel should have been longer.Pros: Moves the water nicelyCons: Could move it slightly faster, Durability and last con is sometimes this is hard to find.If you need this block its an easy flow to grab just dont get flushed away.

Not what they used to be.
I have 2 of these pumps in my system and 2 in my wifes. They are so unreliable I have to keep a spare on hand at all times to be sure I can replace them when they fail. With 4 pumps to care for I seem to replace one about every 6 months or less. They flow rate typically starts to drop off, then they start to make noise, then the flow drops to something that cant keep the computer cool any more and I have to replace one of them.Pic of my wifes system for you guys to see.I for sure know what I am doing, I hand built this system my self. As well as mine and probably another 10 of them for other people and past systems.Been in to water cooling for years now.Never had anything bad to say about EK products but the stuff I used in the last 2 builds of mine, ( mine and my wifes current systems) has not held up well. And getting warranty from EK is near imposable. I have throw about 3 of these in the trash now as I could not get EK to even respond to my attempts to warranty them.

Noisy and makes a metallic grinding sound at 2400-3000 RPMs
Bought this pump because my EK G2 pump failed less than a year in. Figured I would give this one a chance since it is the newer version, and before it failed the G2 pump was great. I’m a little over a month in and now get a horrible grinding sound at around 2200-2300 RPMs, and excessive vibration and whine at 2800-3000 rpm’s. Had a variable pump speed curve based off of coolant temp (just like the last pump, which had no issues with it) for noise reasons, but I guess it is best to keep it at 3700-4500rpms consistently. It’s a little loud, but better a the grinding sound that makes it sound like it will fail. A bit disappointed, but kept it at 3 stars because at least it works, and I haven’t had any reliability issues as of writing this post. Will update if that changes.
