Very good for the low price!
I got these thinking it could be a total waste of money and that it was probably just a cheap toy. Well, we took it camping a few times and have been amazed how well you can see in the dark of night with this little toy. They work very well as far as I'm concerned and so well that I don't plan on upgrading to the more proffesional grade night vision goggles or binoculars for about $500 more. They work well with good batteries but the view does get grainy when the batteries lose power. Also, be gentle with them as they are classified as a toy and are made of the hard plastic that can break quite easily. I am also gentle on the switches and controls as..once again they are also toy grade. Overall...we were amazed how well these worked even at 100-150 feet, the toy grade quality was expected at less than $100...Overall...amazed...fun in the bush on dark nights!!!

Well worth $50
I picked this up on sale from Amazon for around $50 as a Christmas present for my 14 year-old son. He really seems to think it's cool to have functioning night vision equipment, and I tend to agree. Tailor your expectations to the fact that in the end, this is designed as a toy,and you won't be disappointed. As a toy, it is pretty impressive. It indeed provides night vision, but the range is pretty short. It seems well constructed and runs on AA batteries. Once the initial novelty of "hey, I can see at night" wears off, what use or how much fun they can offer will be up to your individual child, and maybe where you live. If we lived in a more rural area, I could really see these providing hours of nighttime exploring. We, on the other hand, live in an urban area and my kid simply isn't out wandering around that much at night. But, the bottom line is these do function as advertised. On a side note, I also wanted to get these to have an inexpensive form of night vision equipment in the house for disaster preparedness. (earthquakes, blackouts, etc.) At $50, this item fits works well as a toy and inexpensive night vision for use in a pinch.

This is good for a CHILDS TOY
I bought this for my boys after reading all the positive reviews. I probably set them up for disappointment by telling them how good it was going to be. We rushed outside and turned it on. Sure it shows someone standing 20 feet away but it wasn't pitch black and you could see the person anyway. Even the snow was lit up. With infrared I assumed all cold objects would show up differently than hot. I thought a person partially hiding behind a tree would stand out. Not the case. For a different experiment I went in the bathroom and turned on the hot water. Then after shutting it off I turned out the lights and looked to see if the spout was a different color than surrounding items since it was hot. No difference. So if this is for a little kid playing in the house it is neat and fun. Otherwise you may be disappointed.

Great Night Vision Toy!
I was pleasantly surprised by this toy. While I wouldn't want to have to rely on these on any real battlefield, these work great for any imaginary scenario. These goggles are much cooler than any toy that I had as a kid, and every kid should have one to play with. While the resolution is poor, the distance is actually quite good. I own an infrared flashlight, but the built-in lighting has a viewable distance of at least 100 feet and is better than my flashlight. Impressive for under $100. Every kid should have these! Pros: 1) Works surprisingly well 2) Solid plastic construction 3) Adjustable focus Cons: 1) Poor resolution, but still great for the price 2) Bulky 3) No depth perception

Very cool toy for my nephew
I got two of these units for my 4 year old nephew this XMas. He was very excited when he opened the present and couldn't hardly wait to get them out of the package. I was very impressed with the quality of the image once we got them focused (would have been easier if I would have read the instructions, or noticed there was another dial at the front to adjust the focus - the dial in back adjusts for the eye width). There was a blizzard in progress, so our use while I was there was limited to the house, but it was still very impressive seeing the detail in a pitch black basement and garage. My nephew also had a good time tracking the dogs under the bed in a blacked out bedroom. I think we will have a lot of fun taking these out to a wooded area near their house this summer and checking out the rabbits and racoons in the dark. The build quality seems to be very solid for the price.

Great toy for all ages - boy or girl
Bought 2 of these for grandsons - 9 years old . . . had to buy another for 11 year old grand daughter. Nobody wanted to share. It's winter and they are in the basement with the lights off. Now I need another pair so grandpa can get in on the action. Works well considering it is a toy. Batteries last longer if they remember to turn them off when done using. 4 stars because I'm not sure the plastic is going to hold up especially since these will be used a lot outside. Be aware that you want to buy the EyeClops 2.0 and NOT the Spynet version which is the 2012 model. For some reason the older version works better than the newer one. Worth the cash!

not just a toy!
When my son asked for this for Christmas, I thought, yeah right, I'm not paying that price for some "infared night vision" goggles that won't do what they say - most likely - BUT, I was wrong...and, I like to think I'm not wrong tooooo often :) These goggles are awesome! We can see if there are any animals in our back area late at night with them! If the fox is out, the dog is in. They are really a tool we have become to love almost as much as our son. He is taking them to a 3 day 2 night camp in March as they go on a night hike. That should be really interesting for him! Still think it is over priced - but, they are very durable and they really do work. No problems....yet.
