Great notebook - Ordering is broken and needs review
I ordered a Pro 160gsm 'Charcoal' which showed charcoal and dark red elastic. After a disaster of shipping from Amazon I got......the Iconic 160gsm Charcoal. I assume the 'Charcoal2' might actually be the Pro 160gsm notebook. With that out of the way, I decided to make lemonade and kept the Iconic. I was tired of trying and failing to just get a notebook for March lol. The paper is great, and handles almost anything I've thrown at it. It handles my notoriously ink-heavy FPR ultraflex nib pen with its ebonite feed (moar ink!). I call it Queen Juicy lol. It bled slightly in one spot where I wrote over too much; normal writing, it was totally fine. A basic black Sharpie fine tip (your 'standard' Sharpie permanent marker) does ghost some but that is the ONLY thing that has. I plan to try some watercolor art next.So yeah, I like the journal even if it isn't the one I ordered, and i'll reach out to STM to see if they can fix their page. It's well-constructed aside from page 9 being a little miss-sewn and doesn't lay flat quite right. I forgive them that, however, and won't dock a star over a minor thing that will soon be used and done.

pleasantly surprised
very happy that the paper is fountain pen friendly. i tried on both 120 and 160 gsm and im happy to say there’s no ghosting whatsoever. slight toothiness can be felt especially if you’re used to smooth paper like Tomoe River Paper or Clairfontaine/Rhodia. maybe slight feathering but not significant enough to deter me from using my fountain pens. am now a fan and will definitely get more soon.

Exactly what I was looking for!
My goodness. Where to begin. This journal is EVERYTHING! It fits nicely in a leather cover I recently purchased, but would be beautiful and sturdy on its own. It also comes with a nice, cardboard sleeve that you can store it in.Also, 160 GSM paper is a game changer! This paper is smooth but thick. Gone are the days of ink bleed and “page ghosting.” Despite this, the book comes with a pen test page in the back, which is awesome. This journal truly lays flat - another majorly positive feature. And the dot pages are perfectly sized. Also, I REALLY like the pen that came with this. It’s similar to a thin, black sharpie, but I find it glides easier than sharpies. I’d love to purchase more of these specific pens/markees!This is exactly the journal I had been scouring the internet for! I’m so thrilled I found it! If you’re looking for a perfect bullet journal, art journal, or general journal, this is a great choice!

Above & beyond my expectations
I love that they brought back the option for 120 gsm paper, sometimes the thinker kind feels like a waste for me since I’m not using paints/etc. I remember being so bummed when they changed their gsm but I love that they offer both options now! And the journals are more sleek & simple than before, which I appreciate. Also, the pen they sent with the journal I got is 🤌🏼😘 and I wasn’t expecting a pen at all. Love love LOVE! Thank you for listening to the feedback of your customers cuz I love it all so much!

One of the best journals I've found
PROS- Paper quality - Very thick, so no bleeding (160gsm). This is high on my priority list. Hard to read handwriting when you can also read the writing on the other side of the page. - Paper is a bright white. This is a personal preference. I prefer bright white paper rather than cream color paper. - Texture is nice. Writing with Pilot G2 ultra fine is very smooth- Construction - Quality binding. Stitched not glued. It looks like it hold together well. - Pages mostly lay flat (much more so than other journals I've owned that were advertised as lay-flat). - If you like pen loops, it is attached with a rivet rather than glue. So probably sturdy. - The name of the journal amuses me. It is debossed on the spine and on the bottom of the back cover. I prefer the spine to be plain to make labeling more neat. I would keep the debossing on the bottom of the back cover. I feel it is an added touch that speaks to the quality and effort put into the design and manufacturing. - The inside cover is well glued. I don't see any places where it looks like it is coming undone. No bubbles.- Features - 2 ribbon markers. One dark and one light so they are easy to distinguish. - Large back pocket (no labels included) - Dots are visible but not so dark as to distract from the text. - Pages numbered in an unobtrusive san serif font the same color and as the dots. I prefer numbered pages so I don't have to manually number pages to start a collection farther into the book and also know what to put in the index. - If you use for bullet journaling, there is a key page. It has a section for bullets and a section for color codes. - Ample index rows (3 pages worth) - Last page is a pen test page. Although the last page can be used for testing pens in all journals, this one is neatly labeled as such so I don't feel guilty about making random marks for no apparent reason. The only improvement would be to make this one page perforated so that it could be neatly removed when the journal is complete. - 152 pages (not including index and key pages) - 153 pages if you include the pen test page - First 'page' has place to record journal owner, start date, and end date - I appreciate the whimsy of the illustrations on the cover linings, index, and key page. And that it is subtle enough to be able to use the journal in a business setting without being overtly whimsical.CONSThese are strictly due to personal preferences not quality problems.- Pen loopI prefer to not have a pen loop because I use a cloth pen holder that fits over the front cover (elastic band) that holds multiple pens. I use one journal for work and home. So need 1 color for home entries and 1 color for work entries to quickly distinguish entries without reading the entire entry. I tried keeping separate books, but it was too much work and became a chore. For those that like pen loops, it is tight. Fitting a Pilot G2 is tricky. Not having a loopless option is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. They are just vestigial if you don't use them. However the overall quality of the rest of the journal is good enough to tolerate the loop.I will say, having the loop affixed with a rivet is nice. If I'm going to have a feature that annoys me, I rather it be well constructed.- CoverI would like a hard cover. This cover isn't soft, but it isn't completely rigid. It bends slightly, so using a ruler on pages in the beginning of the book can be tricky. I propped up the cover using my old journal so it had support and was level the ruler would lay flat.- ColorLimited color selectionWARNINGThe Bottle Green journal is not quite as dark as in the picture.

Awesome bullet journals
Absolutely wonderful bullet journals. I won’t buy any other after buying these.I do a lot of art in my bullet journal as you can see from the pictures and the ghosting is minimal, I can do more art on the reverse of all these pages, the last two photos, the quotes page is on the back of the weekly spread and I’ve had no bleeding yet from the pens I use (papermate flairs, tombow fude, WHSmith brush pens, pilot sign pens) despite the fact these pens are quite inky. The paper quality is the best in any bullet journal I’ve bought so far and the bullets are not too dark and not too light. The customer service team is great, I actually contacted them on Facebook and they replied immediately when I asked them when the bullet journals would be restocked. They were very friendly and generally lovely.I’ve bought 3 of them now and preordered a black one due to the restock. I gave one as a gift to a fellow bullet journaller and I’ve converted her too! There’s not a better art journal here on amazon for the heavy art I do in mine so if your journal is arty I highly recommend.Update:- 05/18, I’ve now tested a variety of art mediums in my journal, including acrylic paint which doesn’t bleed and hardly even ghosts, it makes the page a little crinkly but it’s easy to colour and paint on the back of it. Please see the last 3 photos, the very last photo is on the back of the BB8 page. I’m really impressed as it seems to handle everything I throw at it.

These have not lived up to the positive reviews.
While the actual overall look and quality of the materials used is high, I'm not sure what or why these journals have changed but since their renewal of stock towards the start of the year the paper stock they now use is almost unusable. There's a coating on the paper which delays the drying time of quite literally anything you decide to write with. If you use just pencils and need to erase, the coating comes away leaving a noticeable patch on the page that repels watercolour. Watercolours or pens like tombow brush pens take an eternity to dry off there's been no eraser used and even then the pigment transfers to other pages when the book is closed after its finally dried. We had such high hopes for these as the reviews previously all seemed so good but our own experience sadly paints a much sadder picture. We shan't order more unless we are told these issues have been addressed as they're pretty much not fit for purpose.

EDIT TO ORIGINAL REVIEW NOW REVIEW OF SECOND
Please note that this is an edit to my original 5* rating as Amazon wouldn't let me upload a second review. This is reviewing my lavender STM I received in March this year. This is a hard review for me to do as I absolutely loved my first scribbles that matter so much that I got another for my next bullet journal but I have found so many issues with this new one. As a positive the lavender colour is beautiful and I like the mid page dividers with the lines and pluses. The pages are thick and have minimal bleeding or ghosting but that is where the good points stop. The paper quality is so much lower than in my last one. My main issues with the paper is that both the paper and the dots repel some pen inks so they take forever to dry or come away when I erase the pencil outlines behind the ink. However the pencil doesn't erase easily and erasers can leave shiny streaks across the page. These streaks end up repelling any watercolour I use. The pages also seem to grab hold of fingerprints so these also repel watercolours like I've put was down wax or something. Just not impressed with this one. Very sad.

Advertised "extras" not included
I've had a few "Scribbles That Matter" journals and upon ordering my latest one I noticed that it advertised the addition of a 0.7mm fineliner pen and a page divider guide; however, upon receipt of my parcel these items were not included. The quality of the journal is up to the usual excellent standards, but disappointing to be expecting the additional items for them not to arrive.
