Just keep it in the plastic baggie it's packaged in.

For recharging, can the bags be left on a windowsill that receives sunlight; or do they need to actually be outside?

Hello , you can put it on the a window to recharge the sunlight. the place is not important . the sunlight is important. if the window can receive the sunlight , then it is a good place to recharge the bamboo charcoal bags.

Do i just put it in my shoe after opening the package? Or do i have to put it in the sun first?
