Appears to be pretty permanent.

The title was one product and the picture was another. Very misleading.

In terms of chalk line, the chalk is very high quality, but! you have to be careful not to put too much of this specific chalk, it could destroy the chalk line, it tends to make lumps because it is very thin. I did a test on a very cheap chalk line that I had and I filled it to the end, the line barely came out and after it did , it was impossible to crank and put it back in the chalk line, one more thing the picture is misleading ! what actually pissed me off although it clearly says semi what means chalk number - i didn't check and just ordered by looking at the product picture i needed at list number 4 i got it elsewhere. if not for those two problems i would give it a 5 star
