TileMate (2016) and Tile Slim - 4 Pack (2 x Mate, 2 x Slim) - Discontinued by Manufacturer

I lose everything. I mean everything. Of all the trackers this is the sharpest looking one.That said, I really wish I hadn't bought nine of them.After a year the batteries die and I cannot be replaced. Tile has a replacement program For about 50% off.I Understand that they need to have an income stream to keep the website up after year so I not against them do that in principal somehow it still bothers me.The other issues are more to do with their app. The app needs to be running at all times, I can't run in the background like some of the other Bluetooth trackers can. If I'm traveling and I'm separated from the tracker it doesn't give me any notification. This could be a big problem if I'm in an airport or café since I can only use the Tracker after-the-fact if the app is running.It doesn't work with the Amazon echo.that's just silly. And also it's kind of a one trick pony meaning depressed tile and it rings your phone that is all.One last thing that is Iricksome that if you share it out with other members of the family if their phone connects to the tile you can't connect to the tile, even if you using different accounts. So that means I have to find my wife's phone to locate my tile.Overall I like the category and it is saving me a lot of time, I just think this product needs a little more love in the R&D department

Affordability and compact size were attractive features. However, for a future purchase, I would choose a model that allows the batteries to be replaced.

I got these for the obvious reason, I lose my keys and wallet often. I was skeptical it would work, but after 3 weeks of use, I am happy to say that I really like the Tile trackers. I frequently check to see if I am connected to my keys and wallet when I know they are in range just to see if it actually works, and I have not been let down yet.One thing I did not realize when I first bought it was you need to keep the app in the background on iOS ( I constantly am closing my apps out so this was a habit I had to break). Throughout the day, the app takes around 2% battery to run which isn't that bad in my opinion. The range is nowhere near the 100' claimed, but it is reliable for the 30' or so my apartment is.The ringer volume is pretty decent. I tested it under a pile of clothes on my bed, and I could faintly hear it when I was in the same room, but through a door, I couldn't. If it is out in the open, there is no issue hearing it in a quiet house through doors. The wallet Tile is a little worse because it is muffled by being in the wallet, but still able to be heard.One thing I'd like to see is a physical design that more resembles a key. Although the Tile-Mate is small, the shape of it makes it sit awkwardly in my pocket because, on my keyring, I only have 3 keys and a flash drive.All around, I would recommend to anyone that has issues with losing stuff. I haven't tried other trackers, but I am not disappointed at all with these.

These are a real protection IF you have your phone with you at all times and IF you simply LOSE an item, not if it is stolen. That being said, I'm really glad I purchased. Allow me to share my most recent experience:After a morning out and about, I rushed home, changed, and quickly set out again. However, I could not find my wallet. I searched several times through my car and apartment, but could find nothing. I hadn't been home long enough for it to get that lost..but it was nowhere. I opened my Tile app and it showed my the last location, which happened to be about a block away at a friends address where I'd been earlier. Much to my dismay, though, the wallet was not at my friends home. However, my Tile app kept lighting up that it was near, and then going dark. I started playing the sound and could hear it from a distance...but for the longest time could not pinpoint where it was coming from. FINALLLY, I realized that the wallet was IN THE THE STREET between a garbage bin and another car. It had fallen out, I don't even know how. If it hadn't been for the app narrowing down it's location and then the sound coming from the tile itself, I would never have found the wallet.

Used before

I do not know how I survived without Tile. I have so much more free time on my hands now. This device has freed up hours per day that I used to spend looking for my keys, wallet or phone. It is a great addition on my apple airpods case that before this purchase constantly went missing as well. I couldn't recommend this device more! I love the feature that it will ring my iPhone out loud even when the phone is on silent. I have spent days of my life looking for a phone that is on silent that I have lost in the dark hole that is the cracks of the couch. If you can relate- you need this! My keys and wallet are always just the click of a button away as well. I would say that I pretty much use this device daily. I have even bought a few more for other devices that I lose regularly- and got one for my brother and father... we are all cut from the same cloth and struggle with the same issues- it has helps each of us on a regular basis. The app is really user friendly and easy to navigate, my dad even knows how to use it and he is pretty technologically disinclined. I like that you can add as many as you want and that they have different styles. Gone are the days of panic, thanks Tile!

So I don't know how many times I frantically search around pacing up and down blaming others always ends in wasted time and effort wouldn't it be simply to have something that we could just call up ah ha we do the Tile system.Countless times my Wife has said don't worry I will call it when I have lost my phone only to find it's on silent ahhhhhhhh! Well, no longer the tiles system saws through that problem allowing you to pressed twice in any roles button and it will ring it with sound regardless of whether you have it on silent which is fantastic.Then comes my disabled badge that gets lost all the time so one of the Tile thin slips straight into the punch behind the badge so simple and when I regularly lose it I just go on the app and press locate and it rings the tone amazing.Keys same thing using one of the small tiles put it straight on the keys and find the easily.Wallet nice and simple one of the thin tiles slotted into a Credit card slot its so none intrusive I have it in my small credit card sleeve. The great thing is if you lose it will show the last registered location to track back your steps.Gadget filled rucksack although our location bag is big and bulky we have one of the keyring style tiles on this mainly for if it goes walk about but it's also handy for locating it around the studio.So lets get the TRUTH UNBOX lowdown :Pros: - Nice and small easy to conceal in wallets and on keys. - Great app to let you see last position and also locate buttons to immediately ring the tile. - Custom ringtones for each item if you wish so each tile has its unique sound.Cons: - Price but when you way up time spent searching for items these are a life and time saver so fairly cheap. - The Ring Volume is quite low so if these are placed in a bag you have no hope of hearing them. Would have been great if it was twice this volume.Found that they do drop off the system and don't necessarily show last position

This is a great concept but really will only work at it's best if there are more people out there using them. In order to locate a tile that's out of your own bluetooth range, it depends on other tile users. (So this is ideal in a huge city like Toronto, but less tile users in a small town means that it's effectiveness is reduced.)Plus the catch is that you, and all other users, really have to have the app running and bluetooth on for it to work. These are definite obstacles to making it more effective, since if other users are like me, you want to save on battery usage. So app's are closed, not running in the background, and bluetooth is off. I'll mention that when I go out to a restaurant, bar or venue where theft is more likely, I DO leave the app running and bluetooth on. (So that's an option.)I agree with others' privacy concerns, however if you own a smart phone that ship has already sailed. (Just look into how Google traffic works for instance. They get that info from your smartphone and you probably didn't even know that.) Unfortunately the ability of knowing your location and other users locations is the only way that a product like this is going to work.Anyway, as far as the product is concerned it's definitely pretty cool. It's very simple to set each tile up after you've downloaded the app and logged in. In addition to helping locate lost or stolen keys or wallets, the ability to double click the tile to quickly find my iPhone when I've misplaced it around the house is great! (It works both ways. Your phone can find each tile and each tile can ring your phone if it's within the standard 100ft bluetooth range.)The Tile Slim is not as thin as I'd hoped and adds more bulk to my wallet than I'd like, but it's a trade-off I guess. (For reference, it's the thickness of 3 not 2 credit cards.) I have one Tile Mate on my keys which is the perfect size for that use.I know it's not marketed for this but I intend on putting the other Tile Mate on my dog's collar. However I'm not keen to leave it on him 24/7 as I'm not sure about the bluetooth signal safety long term. So I just have to get an easy on/off clip to easily put it on his collar when we go for walks. (I let him off leash in the woods behind me. He likes to run and doesn't normally take off, but he has chased the odd coyote...) The website says that it's more water-resistant than waterproof but that should be fine.(Edit. This is the clip I bought. Works great for the dog collar, or the key chain.  Nite Ize LSBM-11-2R3 S-Biner Micro Lock, Stainless Steel, 2-Pack PROS+ Definitely great for lost things around the house within the 100 foot bluetooth range+ Relatively inexpensive but ONLY when compared to a GPS tracker which requires a SIM card and data plan+ Small and simple design+ The potential to find lost items outside your bluetooth range is bonus+ If you leave the app running & bluetooth on, you can double tap the tile and it will loudly ring your phone. Even if it's on silent.CONS- These only last a year?!- Can't replace the battery- This means that there's all this planned e-waste to be dealt with?!!!! Not Cool.- And their recycling program only works in the U.S. Not Canada.- Must leave the app running in the background for the tile to work- Must have bluetooth left on for this to work- It also wants location services left on, even when the app ISN'T running. (Not sure why that is...)- There's no guarantee you'll find your lost item once it's outside of your bluetooth range. (Odds are better in larger cities where there are likely to be more tile users.)If you want more information it's best to go to TILE's website and find their HELP & FAQ section. It says that 11 months after you activate each tile you'll get a reminder to replace each unit at the "reTile" price. It says they're $15 for the Tile Mate, and $21 for the Tile slim but I think that's US pricing and it's not clear if it's even an option in Canada or if shipping would be free. (So their reTile program might not be cheaper than just buying a new one.)The bottom line is that the disposable aspect of this is really leaving a bad impression on me. It's such a waste and an unexpected expense to have to keep buying new ones. They HAVE to make the battery replaceable!Also, if they want this to be REALLY effective, many more people need to be using it in order to maximize the "community" effect of the product. This means they have to be cheap. My fear is that it's a novelty item, and once the novelty wears off, and nobody buys new ones, then the whole system fails.I'm only giving it 3 stars instead of 4 because they're disposable and the replacement tiles aren't cheap enough. These have saved me so much time it’s unbelievable. I never spend more than 10 seconds looking for me keys, wallet or phone... which is great when you’re in a rush. You can ring whatever you have the tile attached to, or use the tile to ring your phone. The app is user friendly. I find the range a bit short however. I live on the 3rd floor of a condo and if I left my wallet in the car it’s too far out of range to ring it or identify where it is. So basically if I don’t hear it, i check the car. Live gps locating like « find my phone » would be a great enhancement.

Great product but pretty expensive for what they are.My normal morning routine involves turning everything over in the house until I find my wallet keys, phone and work ID. No matter how organised I have tried to be by putting everything together each evening, there must be an unknown force in the world that moves everything (possibly my kids). Having an alarm on all of these things really does make it a little easier to get out if I make everything bleep, sing, and chirp.It;s also helpful having the last known location function as one can sleep easier knowing roughly where you last had the object in your possession.

Bought this as a Christmas gift for my in-laws since they are always losing their phones and wallets. I helped them get it set up and it worked really well when we tested it. They informed us that they used it already on their drive home to find their phone! What is nice about it is that you can locate your phone from the tiles. I wish that you were able to replace the battery on the Tiles, but I purchased an older version so I’ve heard that the newer ones allow it. For those with concerns about data usage on their phones, they should note that to be able to use the function to locate the phone from the Tile, you must keep location services on in the background.Overall, great product!
