will the seller be adding a temperature indicator, a timer, and a cooling fan?

I don't think that is ever going to happen. Too much retooling and the cost would probably double. My Experience with this product: I'm on my second one. First one worked a couple of times and the metal heating bar just fell out of the jaws. The second one I've used probably a hundred times. (1) I Turn on the Filament connector letting it heat up. (2) I flush cut each end of the Filaments to be connected. (3) I open the Jaws and put one side half way in. (4) I push the other Filament in half way. (5) I start my first stopwatch timer for 4 minutes. (6) When the timer goes off I turn Filament connector off and grab both pieces of Filament close to the Filament connector and push them towards each other for 1/4" or so. (6) Start the send timer for 10 minutes. (7) When 10 minute timer goes off I open the Filament connector and use a razor blade to lightly cut along the filament in the Jaw. Then I use a tiny screwdriver and working from each end "lightly" start to get under the filament in the jaw and pry up. Doing so on both ends. (8) trim most of excess with razor blade and sand with a Nail file emery board. Works like a champ...

I mostly use pla as i don't have an area to control the temperature for abs. how does this work with pla?

The melting temperature of PLA materials from different manufacturers may be different. You need to control the heating time to achieve this. Of course, even if it is heated for a long time, its temperature will be constant at about 220 ℃, which can also meet the connection of all kinds of filaments.
