Great product and good price
I carve spoons and bowls. This chisel/gouge comes sharp and only required some refresh stropping. Very sturdy metal shank and blade. The handle is about the right size to be comfortable in the hand. It less expensive than other wide wood gouges of the same width and sweep. Works very well and has earned a place in my ready tool rack.

Very nice spoon gouge, well made.
The Narex spoon gouge is a very nice, well made wood spoon gouge (for bowls, mugs, cups, and other purposes, too).It did need final stropping, as they said it might, which is no big deal. I removed the micro bevel in faver of a true scandi edge though. Seems to cut much better. Well pleased over-all.

Roughly a #7 sweep
As many observe, it came with a bit of a wire edge and will need a bit of sharpening. It appears to be sturdy. I personally would prefer a much larger handle because I plan to use this with a 40 oz shortened dead blow hammer. I usually carve very tough woods like Osage Orange so my tools take some abuse. 50 years ago i found a #11 sweep spoon that is about 3/4" across and I would dearly love to find something comparable. The photo compares with two FastCut gouges (high recommend). Based on these, I think this would be about a #7 sweep. Before using this spoon I will add a heavy leather patch on the end and reinforce the handle with monofilament strapping tape and then electrical tape. I'll report back if this can't stand up to heavy use.

Excellent tool!
Excellent product! I’m teaching faering at the Grand Marais North House this June, and decided to buy a tool for passers by to use when making mini boat balers. This gouge is a beast! I’ll be making several in this style in my forge this year.

Junk
I attempted to carve/add texture to a cherry bowl and this failed miserably. It appeared to have a reasonably sharp edge but could not even take a small bite without difficulty and after two attempts i immediately i noticed a ding in the tool edge. I honed the edge and saw some improvement but it was apparent that taking shallow slices from kiln dried cherry was too much for it. Dull tools are not safe tools and this is headed to the trash. Save your money and buy better quality.

Great as a spoon, but might cut your mouth.
I bought this spoon to reach down tight jars. It’s been really great I can reach down and get to all of my jams and preserves. One big issue with it is that it has a sharp edge and i’ve Cut my mouth while eating from it. I guess it’s only for scooping.

Sharp
I am not a professional and only use this for carving spoons. It came very sharp with a good profile. The handle is easy to hold and is a good length for control and leverage. Haven't found a down side yet.

Poor workmanship
First time out of the box the handle twisted and came off. Very disappointing

Doesn't hold the edge
I was carving a spoon and the edge just rolled over. Very disappointed... Yes it was hardwood, but my other chicels worked fine... And the return window has already closed so can't send it back :(
