Perfect for dash cam
Very easy to install to the rear view mirror. Better than having the suction falling off.

Sturdy rearview mount for my G1W dashcam, although installation can be slightly frustrating
I recently received a G1W dashcam as a gift, and don't like putting suction cup mounts on my windshield. This popped up in an Amazon search so I ordered it, since the 'mountable space' on my rear view mirror was adequate according to this product's specs. I will say that if I were mounting this on my bicycle, the installation would be extremely easy since everything is out in the open, and I would trust the sturdiness of this mount on my bicycle. Mounting it in the cramped space behind the rear view mirror is not so easy, since it is difficult to see what you're doing. I left all of the rubber shims in, tightened it down, and then realized that I needed to add another shim. This process was only slightly frustrating; In general, if I had been able to find a clamp with a strong spring on it, that would have been adequate for my needs. Once it was all set up, it works well. My particular rear view mirror also has compass and other indicators under the mirror surface itself, and once I put my dashcam in, I could not see the whole dashcam screen. Not a big deal, since the dashcam screen saver kicks in after 5 minutes. Some type of extender would be nice to resolve this.

Optional item, sturdy, not hard to install but tricky. It is a must have in some situation.
If you don't like the suction cup comes with the G1WH model then use this one. The different is the suction cup you can hang anywhere this one has to be right below your rear view mirror. To me it is a bit in the way of my driving view (personal preference). The installation is easy but the tricky part is the tighten knob, it hit the windshield a bit on the top for my car model. The release is not that hard but not easy to pull the unit out without unscrewing the knob. I use both holder this one and the provided suction cup for my other car. It seems sturdy and doesn't vibrate while driving, easy to rotate and swivel around. It would be excellent 5 stars if the release was easier and the knob was in a different place that not hitting the windshield. I think the most need for this item in replace of the suction cup is eventually the suction cup would come to age especially in extreme hot and cold weather. This holder would cling on the rear view mirror more securely.

Review is exclusively for use with the G1W Dash Cam - With a little modification it is the perfect mounting device.
This review is specific to the G1W (2014 edition). Overall I am satisfied with the device. I mounted it behind my vehicle's rear view mirror and I confident it'll stay firmly attached regardless of whatever knocks my vehicle around. The screw ensures that it will stay behind your rear view mirror. It is definitely an improvement to the mounting unit that comes with the G1W and relies on suction to stay put. In my opinion, anything that relies on suction is unreliable and prone to fall out of place. My only issue with this device is with the swivel/attachment that is used to attach the mount to the G1W camera. The G1W's swivel/attachment has extra grooves and a clip that ensures it stays firmly in place; the one that comes with this device does not. As you are driving, the shaking of the vehicle causes the swivel/attachment to slide off and eventually your camera will detach itself from the mount and fall off. This does not happen with the G1W's swivel/attachment. The good news is that you can pop both swivels out of their respective mount an exchange them. So with a little modification I got the perfect mount for my G1W.

Can the Seller post how big of an opening the hole is? I only see the 2cm length
I am rating it 3 stars because it is okay... It barely fits by 2015 VW Passat but it is really awkward because the mirror arm is rather thick and then gets very skinny so there isnt much room to play with. It also doesnt clamp down fully so you are left with a pressure point on your mirror where the sharp opening is (could cause scratches). I removed it and used the suction cup that came with my G1W-C (which is much better and i have more options for placement. I should not have jumped right in and bought this like everyone else. Why cant they post the diameter of the opening so us BUYERS can measure? I will be returning. If it fit properly I would be more excited about it. The ball on the end to move the camera around works great and fits the camera they said it fits.EDIT:I just thought to myself... why don't I post the number. At the smallest crossing you can fit a little over 1 INCH (if you take out the two plates they added for flexibility). At the longest crossing (bare in mind this is oblong) you can fit no more than 1.25 INCHES (and that is pushing it depending on the shape of the mirror).

I use this product to mount my mobius camera
I use this product to mount my mobius camera to the rear view mirror of my 2013 Subaru Outback. I had previously used the suction cup mount sold by the same people who sell the mobius camera. The suction cup mounts keep falling off. This iSaddle mount solves that problem. Please note, this iSaddle mount does not have the proper connector to attach to the mobius camera. I disassembled my old suction cup mount and removed the piece that mounts to the camera. I then disassembled the iSaddle mount and replaced the camera mounting piece with the one that came with the suction cup mount. The two parts are the same size and are interchangeable. This works perfectly.EDIT: At the time I purchased these mounts, I did not know that iSaddle sold this same style mount with the correct screw connector for the mobius camera. As I stated earlier, I was lucky I was able to swap the screw connector from my old suction cup mount.

It attaches easy, appears relatively sturdy and has a good grip
I was not planning on purchasing this item, however I recently bought a dash cam, and the suction pad would not adhere to the matrix dots (the slightly raised bumps on the top of the front windshield) I cannot understand why car manufacturers continue to put those things on modern cars, but I digress. I was therefore faced with a dilemma, either buy a suction cup mounting pad, which may leave glue reside on the windshield, or buy this to mount around the rear view. I chose the less messy choice and i do not have any complaints. It attaches easy, appears relatively sturdy and has a good grip.*Just make sure your device has the ball mounting port before purchasing this item or it will not attach. I have noticed a few newer devices are coming with some fancy mounting ports that will not be compatible with this item.*

Cheap but good quality
When I needed a replacement dashcam holder because my old suction one crapped out (they're awful), I thought the local car accessories shops in my town would have a replacement. But noooo, they don't stock anything like that and wanted me to buy a whole new dashcam for $$$. Seriously, all the store attendants thought I was crazy because I merely wanted a replacement mount. "Gee, must be a really expensive camera," they said.Well, no, it isn't! I simply don't like buying stuff I don't need and wasting money. Screw those fools! I bought this setup on-line for cheap and it's been really good. It's rock solid, and comes with pretty much every attachment you could want for your dashcam or whatever. I had to file a tiny bit of plastic down to make it fit my particular cam, but it was nothing. And just FYI, I give the finger to those car accessories shops every time I drive past...
