Having got fed up with my old bender (a cheapie) I splurged on this one thinking it looked a good bit of engineering. Well..... If you do buy it do not even open the box without having to hand: 1 quantity of kitchen paper to attempt to de-grease all the parts of the awful lanolin type protection 2 a number of Allen keys, not provided (why more than one?? why not settle on one size for the product??) 3 some files to work on parts that do not fit (at this price inexcusable - a lazy supplier/manufacturer who cant be bothered to check all fits) 4 a lot of patience especially with the instructions that purport to show you how to make a number of complicated things. Would have been much better to show the most efficient way to make one simple bend. After all this my hands, tools and bench covered in lanolin and my mind not in a positive state. So to do todays bending job I used my old bender. A pity I did not check this earlier else I would have returned it for money back.

All in all, this is a decent bender. I've use it to make a number or nested bends with stepped diameters, for example, and I found it was fairly straight-forward to make repeatable bends with very little effort. All the components fit as they were intended to fit, and the moving parts move smoothly. The bending bar was a little loose on the pin, but not bad. I suspect some reviewers who complained about the fit may have missed the set screw that anchors the pivot pin. Also, some people complained that the tool came packaged with oil. To me this is a plus. Carb cleaner and a rag takes care of that. (At least it wasn't dry cosmoline). In my case, it would have been nice to have an assortment of additional (larger diameter) spacers, but I believe most people will do just fine with the 4 smaller diameters included.

Works well

It works with some practice. I ended up machining a larger cylinder for it. Worked well for bending 1/8 inch diameter rods (steel and brass).

This worked great for bending spoons and other small pieces of metal. Very well constructed.
