To Be A Cat

Buy this book. You will want to read it over and over
This is such a huge hit in our house. We read Evie and the animals and it was instantly my daughter’s favourite book. I was waiting for the library to open, but grew impatient to read this as my daughter is a huge fan of cats. So glad we own a copy, became a big event, on the porch, candles lit, blankets tucked in around us and hours of reading on the porch sipping hot 🍫 , chatting, guessing what the end will be. Even got cover for my duties so we could stay in bed in the morning and read more. ‘One more chapter’ was always at least 4 chapters. Discussed it during the day making guesses how it would end. £7.99 and I feel like we have all enjoyed a long family adventure! Characters and plot so solid and intriguing. As we read the last line , the youngest piped up ‘we have to read that again. Immediately’

Fab book!
My daughter kept asking for this book as she loves cats. It took her a while to get into it but then she (and I) couldn't put it down. Fab story, keeps you guessing and gets your children wanting to read.I would say it could be a little daunting for younger children but from 8+ it's fab.

Class gripped from the very start!
I read this book to my Primary 6 class (10-11 year olds) and they absolutely loved it! All of the characters are great and they loved the sinister tones! Matt Haig is one of my favourite authors and this is the first of his books for children I have read to my class as a teacher! It’ll definitely be one I’ll revisit with older children!

could not put it down!
I did not realize when I bought this book that it was primarily aimed at children. Lucky me, because if I had I would not have bought it and would have missed out on a wonderful, funny, sad, gripping story. Haig is a very amusing writer and has a sharp eye for description, dialogue and one-liners. The `moral' lesson is there but it unfolds slowly and believably and hopefully one can embrace what the author is trying to say : be happy and confident about who you are now. Reading it makes you feel that it is OK to be an outsider. Plus it is great that the school bully gets a good putting down! I really enjoyed this book and recommend it all ages(9-65+).

Great talking prompt for kids
As an Adult I love Matt Haigh,I was keen to get my kids some of his younger books as I find them quite provocative. This was read over a week by my eldest and was loved, it prompted lots of questions and we had great chats about perspective and emotions I was delighted
