These spikes are great. I had swallows swooping in and out of my porch area. I didn't mind the swooping so much, but their messy mud nests and poop splatters--I had to draw the line. These spikes are easy to install. I didn't want to work with messy glue, so I used carpet tacks. A slightly longer nail might hold better, but the carpet tacks seem to be fine. If any bird tries to grab these things and pull them off, well, he-bird or she-bird would be a stupid bird. These things are formidable! If you use tacks or nails, use a small tack hammer. A regular-size hammer would not fit well within the spikes.No more swoopers. I also put some spikes under my deck, which birds also have found attractive for nests. There are enough spikes in the box to do several small areas. You can snap apart the section if you want. I have two extra pieces left so if birds try other areas under my deck I will fortify those areas as well.Great product, though the birds may not think so! :-)

I’ve used this product for YEARS (so I’ve learn A LOT about it - what it WILL do (and NOT do)).FYI/BTW - The Manufacturer “Claims” that their product is 100% effective - BUT, this is just NOT true.👎……(Or, Partially True)Overall, I’ve found that it does GREAT👍, with BIGGER birds 🦢 (like Pigeon’s and WoodPeckers — the latter of which are VERY distructive [and annoying🤢🤮]).This product STOPS 🛑 WoodPeckers (in their TRACKS 👍👍👍🎉) - as they HATE the spikes.Again, Pigeon also dislike them (the spikes).BUT, “Little” birds (like Sparrows [and liked size], actually LOVE ❤️ the Spikes, as they like to make their Nests in them — as the spikes actually many times PROTECT them 😱).But, for me, I am actually VERY Happy, as this product BLOCKS (for 95%) the two BIGGEST problem Birds [for me] that have given me HELL🔥(again, the WoodPeckers, and Pigeons).The WoodPeckers (for their obvious damage, and NOISE💥), and…The Pigeons (because they POOP 💩 (EVERYwhere), which turns into a Super-Hard CEMENT🪨 😡🤬).So EVERYONE out there (who is thinking 🤔 of this product):1) SKIP this product (if you have a “Small” Bird problem), and2) BUY this product (if you have a BIG bird 🦅 problem).It’s THAT SIMPLE 😂👍BUT, you can actually “Improve” on this product (and make it even MORE effective).And thus, you can significantly Increase Effectiveness by “Sharpening” the spikes (with a Course File tool). It takes a lot of time to redo this, but it makes [increases] its effectiveness, by about 70% [or more], as it makes this item more potentially “deadly.”Some may think this is inhumane, but the alternative is [continued] Bird infestation and damage🤷🏻‍♂️.(2nd PS/BTW - I ALSO like this product (over others) because it allows you to “adjust” [and/or modify] the size/length (by cutting) — while others are made from Metal, so are harder to adjust).My 2 Cents 🪙

These come fully assembled unlike others that require you to put together each spike into a frame. The ends are male-female so the pieces will click together to extend the length to your need. I have them on my window security grill where a lot of wild birds would perch and wait to be fed - yes, I feed our wild birds but don't appreciate the mess they leave on my window sills, and the birds look much nicer waiting in the trees and shrubs than on my windows. The width is small enough that even finches and sparrows can't sit in between so it works well for larger birds like pigeons and doves too. I use zip ties to secure these on the security grill so if you are planning to use them on a projecting surface like a window sill you'll have to figure a way to secure them - something like U shaped nails would probably work. The spikes are thin and the frame is clear plastice so these really aren't noticable and won't make your windows or roofline look like prison wire.

3 stars for product quality, out of a box of 10 strips, 4 of the spike sets were loose. All of them were wider ones. I did manage to get them remounted using a small flat screwdriver and a tack hammer. That alone doubled my install time. Don't recommend using the mounting glue, just use some small short nails. There are holes on the end of each strip that are obviously there for this purpose. They do work to keep the birds from nesting. The eve's I used them for were problematic for me with doves continually trying to build nest in them. Apparently it's an ideal location for doves, well protected from the elements and with a pool just 10 feet away very attractive being close to a water source. Needed 3 boxes to cover the entire area so not an unreasonable cost to solve my bird problem. My local hardware store charges $50 a box, so Amazon was half that price. They are not particularly attractive, but neither was all the bird dropping on the patio. I still think they look better than the plastic version. Overall happy, the do what they are designed to do, at a reasonable price. Pigeons (doves) were making an absolute mess of our front entrance steps and frustration was beginning to set in. We even had to warn visitors ahead of time to walk up the side of the steps. I tried these on a whim and the flying rodents were immediately stopped that same day and they have not returned. Highly recommended for roof peaks, beams, signs, fences. If you are a pearl-clutcher you don't have to worry because these are guaranteed not to hurt the birds, just drive them away.
