great for ideas if you plan to do any re-modeling - from soup to nuts it's comprehensive in every area of the kitchen. Saw it at Lowes for 21.00 and found it on Amazon used books for .97 cents plus 3.99 shipping. What a bargain - it was brand new.

This book has loads of beautiful pictures and ideas for great kitchens . . . but they all seemed to be directed to high-end construction or remodels. If you are looking for ideas of a more modest sort, or need ideas about specific products, you'll need to go elsewhere.

I ordered this book because The Pioneer Woman blog talked about it and it is the best of several kitchen books that I have ordered. Great pics and very up to date with products.

I found it great for inspiration. it also help you focus on what is more important to concentrate on during your remodel.

We are planning to renovate our kitchen this Spring (2013) and I wanted the newest book available. The chapters are divided by each section of the kitchen (cabinets, floors, appliances, etc.). Some parts of the chapters were very good - notably, new techniques and materials were discussed as well as various budget levels. The pictures disappointed me though - for example, sometimes the feature being discussed was almost all the way into the binding and I could hardly see it. I also just thought that a lot were ugly (but that is personal preference). Buy it for the discussion of the major parts of the kitchen and ideas at different budget levels, not for good pictures.

Took out a bunch of kitchen design books from the library and ended up purchasing this one. The best of ALL....I had SO MANY post-it notes in it, I decided I needed to OWN it!

Most of it is common sense. I thought it would be different about layouts, etc. It is more about materials you can choose from.
