AtecoLarge Plastic Coupler 404

Ateco makes a great range of pastry supplies. Be warned, this is a huge coupler made only for the very large piping bag tips. You will need decent sized piping bags as well. I put in a picture with a tip installed to give you an idea of how big it is.The coupler is made out of a sturdy plastic and it holds up to the dishwasher. If you wash them just after use you shouldn't need the dishwasher anyways, but it'll survive.There isn't much more to say about this little guy, so I'll leave it at this: if you need a huge coupler for huge tips for decorating a huge cake, this will work great.This coupler fits the following Ateco piping tubes: 807, 808, 809, 827, 828, 829, 847, 848, 849, 867, 868, 869It may fit others, but these are the one's I checked

Great quality. Works well, but it's way bigger than I needed. Otherwise it really deserves 5 stars.

I am not a baker so I didn't know that couplers and steel tips must be made by the same manufacturer to work,duh. I had a large open star-tip #869 by Ateco. The couplers I already had didn't work, the top and bottom portions of coupler wouldn't thread with the steel tip inserted. I looked but couldn't find any plastic couplers that were near large enough to handle this star tip. Then I looked here--Amazon came through! I put on my thinking cap and realized I had to keep the brands of the steel tip and the plastic coupler identical, or so I am to believe. This worked. This large Ateco coupler fits my very large Ateco #869 tip perfectly and threads tight. I love to use this tip for making perfectly sized and ridged churros. Phew. This was an elusive hunt for me, but so happy the hunt is over.

Not shown or described... it actually has two caps for different size tips. It was still not large enough for some of my larger tips. For those, I guess I will just have to do without a connector.

This review is for the Ateco Large Plastic Coupler 404. I used this to help with the tips that I wanted to make cupcakes for my sister’s baby shower. I did do a test run and they turned out well. I was able to do swirls with the tips I had which helped. I recommend this product 100% if you’re looking for good ones at a good price. The reviews on here are some good and some bad, but I think you should decide on your own with what you’re looking for. :)

I bought this to go with the "recommended"  Ateco Plastic Coated Decorating Bag, 18-Inch  and the  Ateco #786 Large Tube Set, 12 pcs. . It works for about half of the decorating tips and you'll have to cut about 1.5-2.0 in off the pastry bag to use it. Which renders the other half of the decorating tips useless with the bag since the hole is now too big, Otherwise it's fine.

This coupler is a perfect fit for  BeBeFun 304 Stainless Steel Extra-Large/Jumbo Classical Cup Cake Piping Icing Decoration Tips & 20 Pieces 18 Inch Icing Decoration Extra Thick Strong Bags & 4 Silicone Ties Set for Baking.  I tried a few others and was nervous I wouldn't be able to find one, so I was thrilled when this coupler fit.

There isn't a lot that I can say about this coupler but it is a handy item to have if you are planning on switching tips on your pastry bag. I recently bought a set of large Ateco tips for working with eclairs and macaroons. I needed a large coupler so that I could switch tips. This coupler fit the bill precisely. It has sturdy, quality construction and is large enough that you can easily clean it out. Couplers are one of those culinary equipment afterthoughts. They are easy enough to overlook, but they are indispensible. Give this coupler a try with your large tips. You'll be satisfied.

I wasn't expecting the tip to be so large.. but somehow it fit the Russian tips that were fairly large too!
