covers an amazing array of the nuances of football
I ran across this looking for some two+ person travel games. If you just start by looking at the directions, you'll go mad. Just start rolling and looking up every roll. We struggled to figure out the scorecard so we bailed on that and just wrote down the play results. Once you **get** the logic, just start using what you know of football to work out what the dice mean. Get sacked, roll the yellow die to see how much yardage you lost and take away a run-play die because that's a loss of down - OH. The only complaint we have is that on the possession die it would be helpful if the O and D were a bit less alike, especially in a campground picnic table.Once we figured out how the dice worked, the score sheets made a lot more sense. They also made the math easier. My husband made fun of me for being "1st and 10 at the 87 yard line".It was really worth the time to figure out because we've had a blast playing. I think that what impresses me the most is how much of actual football they've worked out with the dice. Perhaps when I rolled a safety when I was on the 50 yard line wasn't the most realistic, but they actually had worked out that you roll the kicking die from the 20 and not the end zone like a free kick. It would also be crazy helpful in real football to know ahead of time what the yardage was going to be on all of the downs but who cares, it's a really fun game and any more complicated and it would be just too much.If you don't know anything about football though you are going to be lost. On the other hand, if you wanted to teach someone the basic rules of football this would be a good way to do it. I should apologize to my niece-in-law because we got so excited about it we ordered one for my nephew that should be there tomorrow.that's all I have to share,Kathryn Bishop

Perfect for football obsessed 6 year old
My 6 year old became obsessed with the NFL this year. He watched Red Zone on Sundays and knows all of the players and stats. We got this for him for Christmas and he likes it more than the video games or other toys. He does love math and this has been helpful to help him do mental math. Ball at your own 40 yard line and you get 15 yards. Where are you now? That type of stuff.10/10 would recommend

Fun and unpredictable 😁
It’s mostly luck, but it’s still a lot of fun! I play with my 8 year old son. Both games have been really close and exciting. Turnovers, big plays, sacks, long field goals. Totally unpredictable. The only thing is there is no instruction if you get a sack and then roll a hand or an offsetting penalty on the yellow die. We just decided that the hand is 5 yards and the offsetting is a reroll. Our last game was 30-28. He won on a last second field goal!

Earns a place alongside GOLO, Monopoly and Scrabble as my all-time favorite games.
LOVED the GOLO golf game and thought this would be interesting. Turns out to be FANTASTIC! Who knew you could make a football dice game that was so captivating! The instructions are really good and actually make more sense when you play the game for the first time. I did augment my game with the "sign here" arrows (like a Post-It note) to mark the line of scrimmage and first down marker without making a bunch of pencil marks and erasures. The team that created this as a dice game is BRILLIANT! Almost everything is here: field goals, punts, returns for a TD, interceptions, flags, fumbles, passing, running, sacks, two-point conversions, safeties, Pick Six, pass interference, off-setting penalties, even a loss of down! The only things missing are fake field goals and onside kicks. For better or worse, luck of the dice largely determines the outcome. There is strategy involved, but a beginner can beat an expert, if the dice rolls in their favor. It IS a dice game, after all. Lots of scoresheets are included and they even include a free website link to the scoresheet's pdf to allow you to print more at home. Having even a bare-bones understanding of football will move the game along at a nice pace.

Good, but somewhat chaotic
Let me preface this by saying that I've only played 2-3 games so far by myself. The game is well-designed and fun to play. The dice are of solid casting and very clear to read. The book of score sheets is fairly well-designed as well, though including a golf pencil with the set would've been nice.My biggest complaint about the game is that it's extremely random. Of course, given that it's a dice game, that's to be expected. I guess even real-life football has a bit of chaos to it, with fumbles going both ways, penalties, etc. I suppose my disappointment with the game is that it's not really "strategic" at all. You're completely at the mercy of the die rolls. As it is, you're rolling three dice with a number from 0-3 on them, and the "big play" die which has numbers in the double-digits and "TD" on it. I think it'd be better if you could choose to roll "rushing" dice or "passing" dice, with the appropriate yardage counts on each. At least that would add a little strategy. Or perhaps have offensive and defensive dice. Maybe they'll go that route with the next version of the game.I'll update this review later after I've played more and against actual opponents to see how I think of it. One plus for the game is that you can download a PDF of the score sheets, so you won't have to buy a super-expensive pad of sheets again once you run out.
