Engineering Design: A Systematic Approach

These are the bases of projecting
I think this is one of the books that you must have in your own library, of course if you aspire to became engineer. This book is a manual, but not only, I mean it's a bit different from a manual reading: the reason of this thinking is that you have to study once before use it. It explains the process to develop a generic device from the concept, to the embodiment and the detail design. Afterward it present many cases of interrelationship (constructional, of system, ...), tables for the planning, processes for creation of mindset and so on....The only think that I regret is about the approach to much schematic, I mean, of course this is a engineering book, but for the design you need also creativity and passion that this book never bring up.

A reference tool book
Who can find a better one ? (perhaps "conceptual design for engineers"). This is not a book about "everything in 500 pages". It is about tools (so yes it can be boring is you read 200 pages a day) and examples. The most important is that it learns you a rigorous mechanical design philosophy in detail.Engineering designers have to be systematic today. Just find a solution is not enough any more. You have to prove it is THE solution, you have to have the tools for it and know how to use them.
