I had been to Ladakh briefly before, but when I read the book I was able to find temples, shrines, and cultural practices I didn't know about the first time, and in Kashmir I found a great place to stay on Dal Lake. Surprisingly, Srinagar has a shrine based on the local tradition that Jesus came there to live for decades after the Gospels say he died and was resurrected. Just one of the fascinating tidbits from the book.
