Nu-Calgon 417175 Evap Foam

I hadn't cleaned the inside coils of my window AC in years. This dissolved years of filth. Quick spray with the hose, and my ten year old window ac works like new! Good buy!

I have two Midea 8000 BTU window air conditioning units I purchased way back in June 2022.The first one I got worked so well I bought and installed a second unit, when my rooftop 3 ton unit did the same old conk out during a heatwave that summer.Needless to say I take very good care of both units, and try to keep them in tip top working condition. I do not want to be with out AC again.Even with that good maintenance, both units seemed to be struggling just a bit and I read about deep cleaning (not just rinsing with a hose and scrubbing with a brush) the evaporator, and condenser coils as part of the routine.I found this item, and after reading the reviews, and watching the videos, and thought I would try Nu-Calgon 417175 Evap Foam. Purchased Jun 28, 2024 Size: 1.13 Pound (Pack of 1).It took me a bit, although not long to figure out, you need to keep shaking the can to keep it foaming.Example: Shake the can, spray a section of the coil, shake the can, spray another section of the coil, and so on like that until the entire coil was coated. I also got a couple of paper towels to keep my hands clean.It says it can be left on, but having never used Nu-Calgon 417175 Evap Foam before, I thought I would rinse it off anyway. After an hour or so, I got the brush and scrubbed the coils. Then I used a two gallon pump up gardening sprayer with plain water for the rinsing part.Even though previously I washed and used a brush on the coils yearly, the amount of dirt that evaded my efforts was... well, almost shameful. Nu-Calgon 417175 Evap Foam removed stuff I didn't even know was there. The rinse catch bucket was proof enough... ack!Call me nuts, but I like the scent. It didn't bother me at all.Currently we are in the midst of a nasty brutal heatwave this year, but you wouldn't know it in the house because both AC units are running as if they were new, out-of-the-box. You really can clean your own evaporator with a few tools, 1 gal spayer and a CHEAP 1-2 gal wet vac. Not handly? (its easy to do) Got money to spend? Then pay the $400.00 or more for an AC guy. You will find you wind up doing it yourself every year or so. The vac is for the drain pan to clear the junk and gunk the product removed so it don't plug the drain. You can also use it to clear the drain pipe outside.( another service call avoided) I used mine to clear sink drains and so many things I never thought of.PS. Google the AC clean. If your condenser is outside (not roof) clean that also. AC will love you.

Make sure you have a needle to clean out the nozzle every 3 seconds of spraying. The nozzle would clog and it was incredibly frustrating!
