Is this ring embedded with magnets, or is it just a metal ring that attaches to magnetic surfaces?

It's just a metal ring. It's not magnetic whatsoever.

The material of this product is ferritic stainless steel with nickel plating. It is not magnetic itself, but will be attracted by magnets.

The thickness of the ESR HaloLock Universal Ring 360 is 0.8mm, there will not be any apparent gap with magsafe wallet attached.

Whats the difference between this and the one with the small opening at the bottom?
