The device is awesome. The installation software
The device is awesome. The installation software, mmm not so much. Needs a splash screen telling you the installation is running, as it takes a while to give any indication the program is running. Also doesn't tell you after the driver is installed, to plug the device in. I am still not clear on if this should be plugged into the USB 3.0 port or the 2.0. Its installed in the 2.0 and running fine. It has a descent utility program with all kinds of thing you can do with it and it picks up dozens of Wifi modems in the neighborhood. Bet it would be a big help in an apartment complex or hotel with a marginal Wifi signal as it sure pulls in routers with that neat antenna. Best of all its not a big fat Belkin NXXX Wifi Adapter that blocks access to the adjacent USB port on many laptops and mini computers. Its definitely a keeper

Not Disappointed ANYMORE!!
I opened the package two weeks after I moved so I was excited when it was time to set up my computer... When I tried the screw the antenna onto the adapter it would not work. After multiple tries, I finally realized the the piece inside the antenna part was missing. I was really disappointed! :(The date to return the product had past so I was stuck with a defective product... Although it works without the antenna, I am still not getting to use the product I paid for....UPDATE 03.10.18: I contacted the seller and CS person was very understanding. He offered me a replacement and I received it in less than 5 days later. The adapter is working excellent now!! I connect to the internet faster and the range is wider! Kudos to Vincent (the CS Rep)!!

File this under "you get what you pay for"
I purchased the adapter to boost internet speed (Comcast/Xfinity) on an ACER laptop running Windows 7. Got it in early July and installed it using the mini-CD disk. I disabled the power-saver function to this device so that it would not shut down while the laptop is on. First the good news: The results were immediate. I conducted 4-5 internet speed tests and this device boosted the ACER's internet speed performance from 20-25 mbps to 35+ mbps (+50-60%)! I also installed the same device on my Dell laptop (also Windows 7) to see how it would perform and got the same type of results. Suddenly, and only about 2-3 weeks later, the device simply stopped working and the Acer laptop was emitting alert sounds and pop-up messages that the "USB device is not operable. Please remove it and try reinserting it." I did this and also restarted the laptop. Nothing. I reinstalled the driver, and even looked to Anewkodi's (who?) web site for updated drivers (didn't find anything available). Laptop issue, perhaps? I inserted the adapter to my Dell laptop and got messages that the device was "not recognized" and/or that a "driver has not been installed" (it had been installed). That is all the time I wanted to spend on an $18 device when there are other, brand-name devices readily available. Ultimately, this is about reliability and confidence in this product to perform consistently each and every time. If you notice, there are a dozen suppliers/brands of this exact same unit, so I am assuming these are all the same and are as likely to be as unreliable. Spend an extra $2 and get the Linksys (which has good customer support) AC 580, or if you have Windows 10, I hear that you may want to spend a few more bucks and go for the Netgear AC1200 or another model. ...But if you buy this product, save the packaging - you're probably going to need it!

Thing thing saved me a lot of money!
I purchased this because the wifi antenna broke inside my Dell Laptop. The cheap way that Dell builds the covers caused one of the hinges to crack, and it cut the antenna. I called Dell, and they wanted $250 just to look at it, and if I was lucky it would ONLY cost me $250. Chances are they would miraculously find something else wrong with it. I found this on Amazon and decided to give it a try, you can't beat the price. I was pleasantly surprised. It picks up my internet fast and easily. You do need to install the drivers (from a mini cd they provide) but it doesn't take long. I get fast internet and saved at LEAST $250 for a new antenna. My friend also bought one to speed up his internet. Recommend!

Works great. Replaced a built in in a desk top
Replace this >>>>> Works great. Replaced a built in in a desk top. Range is now better, and signal strength is good in the garage - about 40 feet and 3 wall away from the router.......With this --- Desktop was jammed against the wall and the adapter broke. Reordered a replacement one which arrived today -- Broken on arrival - the USED Silver cover and misc plastic parts were broken off and visible in the package. Knocked it down to 3 stars..

Malfunctioned after a year
Ive gotten a good years use out of this product, as a avid gamer it lasted about a year being plugged into my computer and active 8 hours a day before finally malfunctioning. Unfortunately this morning I woke up and it didnt light up anymore in any of my USB slots and I tested by changing my mouse in and out of the slots to make sure the slots themself wherent broken. For its price and a year of very active use not bad. A good product just a shame it malfunctioned the way it did, no warning signs just one day her light died, and with that so did my internet access ;( F to pay respects. 4/5 stars, id rate 5 just seems like a lame way to die on me, atleast explode my usb port or something.

Works great and inexpensive
The TL;DR version: Performance is good with as many as four walls between the adapter and the router. Driver installation from the CD worked without a hitch on Windows 7. Exactly what I needed.I'm using this with a 6-7 year old Dell OptiPlex machine. I didn't want to run network cabling (at least not right now) to get network support on it in the new house. This one was inexpensive and had decent reviews. The packaging is minimal, and even the driver disk is a mini CD. Everything installed perfectly with Windows 7 Pro. The machine is used daily, and the network performance is completely acceptable even for streaming.
