Solid, innovative piece of gear.
Well made, innovative, spool. I like that the blade can be replaced with a standard utility blade. This is really well made and a smart piece of gear. FYI, I bought a blue and black one. After I had made purchase, said black one was on back order. I still dont have it. I would have just bought two blue ones. Maybe I missed that detail before purchasing. So, if you want it fairly quick make sure its available to ship.

Good Piece of Kit
I suppose this Spool Tool is SO good, that my first order went "missing" en-route. Amazon gave a rapid refund, and I re-ordered another one (not the exact color I wanted, but close enough). When my second order finally arrived, I was impressed. I got this to carry cordage. It's designed for 550 Paracord, but I use it with #36 Tarred Bank Line. Because the manufacturers designed this with a removable utility razor blade, a holder for a mini BIC Lighter, and the ability to carry up to 100-ft of 550 Paracord, you are basically carrying a partial survival kit -- covering three of the critical five of Dave Canterbury's "Survival 10 C's" (Cutting, Cordage, and Combustion). If the user is willing, they can enhance the spool by adding 6-7 turns of 1-inch cargo tape (~ 3 feet of Gorilla Tape, etc.) and some monofilament line around it before wrapping the cordage, and tucking a thin plastic mirror, a few fish hooks, sinkers, and sail needles under the first (or last) turn of the tape. Then, you've added two more of Dave's 10 Survival C's to the pocket-sized kit (Cargo Tape and Canvas Needle), as well as a few others that I've added myself (Communications, Chow, and Carrier).

Great tool, worth the price.
This is an excellent tool; instead of having to root about in my pack for a knife, lighter and cord, it's all together on one easy to grab tool. It also means you can hand off the cordage for someone else to use and not lose your lighter or cutting tool (assuming you carry more than one). It's sturdy, durable polymer, not a flimsy plastic: I couldn't get it to flex in my hands. The blade is replaceable and it has a hole on one side for a carabiner or other clip of some kind. The slots on the other side accommodate 4 different cord sizes and can be used to seal the ends of paracord: simply fit the cord into the slot, melt with a lighter and then pull the cord straight out through the hole. That will give a nice, even seal around the cord. The variety of colors is nice. I ordered the Blue and it's quite bright: definitely not something you'd lose in the woods. Some of the colors seem to be out of stock often though, like the Blaze Orange. If you're looking for a specific color, buy it when it's available: if you wait it might not be there. I only bought the blue because the orange was out of stock when I went to order. Some might consider the price too high given the plethora of cheap spools available, but none of the others have all the features this one has. It's a great tool for the money and I expect to order a few more before long. Update: as expected I like enough to order another in January 2017, orange this time. The blue one stays at home while the orange one now lives in the pack.

The best tool you don’t need.
I don’t need this. It was an impulse buy that turned out to be handy. It was a waste of weight in my pack. The value for it though was cheap enough to justify its purchase. It is well made and holds probably 100 feet of thread. It’s designed well. If you need it, it’s worth it. I didn’t, but I appreciate it’s use case.

I love these so much I have bought two!
This is an amazing idea and very well executed. I love each of the features. The lighter clip is ingenious, the integrated cutter is well executed, the holes to seal the melted ends have saved many burnt fingers, and the overall operation is nearly foolproof, which is a good thing on my end. I love never having to look for my lighter when it comes time to seal the ends and I love that the design of the clip keeps the butane release button from being depressed accidentally. The integrated cutter means not having to juggle the spool and the loose end and my knife all at the same time (not an impossible task at all, but this makes it easier). Very well done. I may end up buying another to keep a spool in the car as well.
