Loving it so far
I have only been using this Infrared bulb since Sunday, but have been using it multiple times a day. So far, I am really liking the results that I am seeing. I have not used it to try and heal any pain so I can't speak to how it works for that, but I have been using it for my face. I have a few areas of hyperpigmentation on my left cheek that I can almost swear have lightened a great deal with 10 minutes 2 x a day. I am someone who absolutely loves instant gratification, so it is hard to win my praise this quickly on any beauty treatment. I was planning to have buyers remorse, but instead I am already contemplating 2 more bulbs so I can target multiple spots on my body at once. I did a lot of research on near infrared vs far infrared vs light therapy before deciding to give RubyLux NiR near infrared out. My bulb came delivered a little disheveled looking, but knowing (from reading on RubyLux's website) that these bulbs are actually just white light painted red, I didn't really mind that there were a few spots that the red was scraped off. It did look like my bulb had been used and returned and then sent to me, but the purchase was under $25 so I didn't really sweat it to much...definitely not enough to go through hassle of returning/exchanging. Near infrared light is actually white, but the bulbs are painted so that you can see the area of your body you are focusing light on. That said, if you see some of the red scraped off, it isn't that you received a defective light. You will need to purchase a 10-10.5 inch brooder clamp lamp--I purchased my at Home Depot for about $11 and it works great. You can also find them on Amazon for cheap although it looks like companies raised the price some based on what other reviewers said they paid in the past. Once plugged in, the bulb immediately becomes warm. I hold the lamp as close to my face as I can without it burning me or being uncomfortable and do about a 10 minute session max. For other body parts, I believe 20 minutes is good. This short 10 minutes has actually helped me to relax throughout the work day and wind down a bit. So it's certainly a relaxing and therapeutic thing to do if nothing else. It gives my face a warm glow once I'm done and as I mentioned before, I can almost swear my red pigmentation is lightening. Also, don't forget to use some sort of glasses or goggles when sitting under the bulb! Overall, I'm happy with this purchase so far and will continue to use my heat lamp religiously to see how it changes my skin over a period of a month. I will update review along the way with any progress. I would have to recommend this to anyone looking to up their beauty game or looking for a way to relax!

Something affordable and low-tech that actually helped knee pain
I was surprised that this seems to actually work. At first glance it seemed a little Woo-Woo, but, for the price it is not a difficult buy to try. I used it because my knee was hurting so badly that I could not sleep well, and only in one particular position that is not my favorite position at all. It started hurting after spring inspired me to start running, and gardening, and apparently I'm not so pliable and resilient like I used to be. I bought a brooder lamp fixture at the farm store to put the bulb inside and then clamped it to a bookshelf a few feet above my legs. Don't do what I did, but, I didn't have the recommended eyewear, and, I didn't feel like just laying there and listening to something or nothing, so, reclined, I made a barrier of a big book between the lamp and my eyes. I started first ten minutes twice a day, and then I went longer, working up to 20-25 minutes a session. I was sleeping well in 3 days and able to lay in my favorite sleeping positions almost as quickly. WARNING: the bulb gets quite hot, so don't touch it or let it get wet. Turned out that for some reason that I don't understand, the mount on the brooder fixture came loose (not the clamp part), and it fell, touched my arm quite briefly, but left a burn. This is not Rubylux's fault, but rather, the brooder fixture. Whatever lamp structure you choose, make sure it is secure and will not fall over with the bulb. Perhaps I was the one who did something dumb, but, make sure you will not end up with a hot bulb coming into direct contact with your skin. Conclusion: I am now a real supporter of infrared light therapy and will regularly use it. Of course, I will also study up on other ways to keep from getting painful joints, like probably learning better use of my body, but, with my own mistakes and ignorance that happen, it is really nice knowing that I have this useful tool that actually helps me. PS. Upon going to an orthopedic doctor earlier, I could not get any useful information out of the fellow. It was a dead end appointment. He offered to sign me up for some therapy, which would be specific exercises, which I have done before years back when I had knee pain before, but he never mentioned anything helpful like this. Why? Apparently red and infrared light therapy has been well-studied. Wouldn't it be an obvious good choice to recommend to patients who are asking for insight on how to help themselves? I don't know why it seems like most health problems that I have are dead-ended by the doctor route, leaving it up to me to learn about infrared, nutrition, etc., which, even though they are well-evidenced, are not mentioned by any doctors that I have met. I'm going to have to print out some relevant studies on the topic of infrared and red lights, so I can share the existence of this excellent and accessible therapy with my own family and community. I'll have to print studies because a great many people will think it odd to heal yourself with light and probably won't believe it could really help. It does!
