colors lay down nicely
The colors lay down nicely, and there is a nice variety. They're a creamy texture. The only ones I have used to compare them to are some that had been purchased at Hobby Lobby several years ago - their brand. These are much nicer and don't smell as bad as the ones from HL.The price is reasonable for the number of colors you get in the set.I've used them for mark-making in some abstract art pieces and some color highlighting in a set of bookmarks. (I did use a fixative after)Not sure if they're the level one would want for "real" art, but they were a worthwhile purchase to me.

Really good oil pastels!
The color selection is really good, pretty colors for sure! Really nice quality and not much oil pastel “flakes’ that come off when you use them! These are soft though, like just a little bit too soft but not too much to hate. Definitely recommend these, especially if you have a loved one who wants to try out oil pastels! I think a beginner could handle these pretty well.

These pastels are my favorite. Great color, very blendable. I've tried more expensive brands but none compare.

Versatile for the process of making art
I have used them straight and also as an accompanyment over acrylic paintings and they do both quite well.

Love the color variety…
Love the variety of colors and I’ve used them a lot since purchasing. They could be a little softer but they are way softer than the cheap store brands and the colors are more vibrant.Highly recommend.

Poor range of values
I am a beginner with oil pastels but have some experience with other mediums. I've learned that oil pastels cannot be tinted like paint so you really need more values than what is offered in this set. Black, and a medium-dark brown are the Darkest colors. White and a light yellow are the lightest values. Everything else is very mid range. I think this set would be good for mixed media artwork or for illustrations. Need to go up to the 72+ set for more range of values if you are doing landscapes.
