CASP CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner Certification Study Guide (Exam CAS-001) (Certification Press)

The CASP exam is tough and much like the CISSP, requires lots of study preparation. Book is better then most, but still misses content that was in the actual exam. I would recommend the study material but the book needs to be updated with a supplement. It is good if you are just learning the basic content but use other sources for studying and learn routers and switches. IT industry is moving very fast. Good exam for people working in the CND or SOC.

There are only a few places in this book where any advanced-level knowledge is presented. For the most part, it's really just a rehash of material from the entry-level Security+ course.This difference between Security+ and CASP is that CASP is supposed to teach usage of security assessment tools. None of that is done in this book.

There is very good information in this book; however, you cannot pass the exam with this book alone. You will need to do additional research within the domains and hands-on experience the technologies stated in the book. *Make sure you get a copy of the exam topics from the CompTIA site.

This book is well written and easy to understand. The authors look to have made a good effort to cover all of the categories of the exam and have organized it well. Those seeking to acquire CASP will probably find this as the best resource available to accomplish that goal. I have seen conversations on the net expressing this opinion as well. Good piece of literature.
