Kraya the Blood Shark (Deep Dive #4)

The little boy BLEW thru this book... said it was very exciting! We also started the Beastmaster books after seeing that the author wrote those as well. Great exciting reads for my 3rd grade boy.

(9yr old boy)) I like the plot-particularly the factory scenario. Bummer is it end with a cliffhanger but they haven't made another book. I like the plot around the Skull of Thalos.

Fabulous series. Our 7-year-old was hooked from the first book. We read the book to him.

This is the conclusion of the first story arc of this series, and so there is a lot of wrapping up of loose ends done here. The identity of the villain is revealed. While not all that shocking, it makes sense in story terms.This book also introduces Kraya, the last of the robobeasts from this initial story arc. Kraya is literally a "shark with laser beams coming out of its head"! Clearly "Adam Blade" an Austin Powers fan.Kraya actually has more to do in this story than the robobeasts in the two middle volumes of the arc, and he gets some of the best scenes. The first few chapters are a bit slow, but once the action gets going it's non-stop (well, up to the epilogue-ish final chapter, but that bit does it's job well too).There are some really creative dangers that Max and Lia face and some genuinely exciting escapes.Also, kudos to Adam Blade for including a female unnamed henchperson in a scene. No, really. I have gotten on Blade's case for not giving the female companion characters enough to do and for using them in stereotypical roles (and that does happen a bit here, but it was a clever scene that I was good with), but a nice small step in the right direction is including diversity in the background roles. So, yay for unnamed henchwoman! Hope you managed to escape when everything started blowing up!This was a good, satisfying ending to the first four books, and my son enjoyed it quite a bit, especially Kraya's scenes.
