Great for teachers!
I used this as a read aloud for my 6th graders. They loved it, as did I! They then did mini-research projects on one of the women featured in the book.

Great book of female heroes
This is a sort of "Magic School Bus" about Revolutionary War era women. The information on each page is broken up into segments that you can read or not, depending on your child's reading level and interest. The pages are colorfully illustrated and engaging. The author exhibits an honesty that is especially welcome when you're reading about such an iconic time of our nation's history. If a person may or may not be real (e.g., Molly Pitcher), she tells you so. The backmatter has a lot of interesting text that adds to the appropriateness of the book for older readers. It's likely you'll encounter women you knew about, but most I hadn't. It's wonderful that an author can unearth the lives of women from a time when few firsthand accounts by women exist.

Good, but wrong format.
It's a good story. Very informative, even the adults can learn things about the revolution that you didn't know. Only complaint is picture books are not good in kindle format. Will be picking up real hardcover picture book next time I want to read one.

Fun for all ages
A truly delightful book. Formatted like a young child’s book, but the mommy will enjoy it at least as much as her little girl! Of course, daddies and little boys are invited to read and learn, too. The wording and illustrations are clever, amusing and wonderful! And a whole lot of history is inspiringly revealed. Great for discussing and giggling!

but I think my boys liked it more
Bought for my two daughters, but I think my boys liked it more! Read book four night in a row to kids before bed! There were more than a few white men fighting for independence and the kids were more than willing to sit, listen and learn:) GREAT BOOK!!

My 9 year old twin daughters read this book before a trip to Mount Vernon. They loved it, how nice to read what the ladies did to help win our country's independence. Highly recommend it!

Great book about some of the valiant women of the US Revolution. Essential for any classroom/home where US history is discussed. Always 'remember the ladies.'
