Besame Cosmetics Brightening Powder, Violet, 0.21 Ounce

Tried this on a whim,and am loving the overall effect! A lovely combination of mattifying, brightening, and, if you are yellow undertones, a bit of color correction (some color theory for you - purples balances out yellows). Added bonus is the container which is so deliciously vintagePros:- mattifying finish (not completely, but very natural)- color correction for yellow undertones - sort of diffuses your color and perks up the sallow spots- brightening- cute cointainerCons- the powder puff doesn't get much done, maybe if you need to touch up a targeted spot; You are better off using a big powder brush to get a lighter, more even layer- price - it's not crazy expensive, but it is in the awkward place where I'd pay a little more to get Smashbox correctors, or less and get some drugstore stuff. (I just couldn't resist the container though!)

I was looking forward to loving this powder, and had read lots of testimonials about how wonderful it was. Unfortunately I found it really hard to get just the right amount of powder on the included applicator, and when I did the powder was very drying to my skin. I'm prone to dry skin, especially on my nose and cheeks, and so use an combination foundation/powder compact from Lancome. This is probably better for someone with normal to oily skin.

Besame Cosmetics Brightening Powder in Violet is the BEST powder on the market today. It comes in the beautiful powder puff case of loose powder that I purchased and it also comes in a special compact for my purse. The Besame packaging is the most beautiful on the market - so reminiscent of times gone by - right out of the Great Gatsby. A girl feels extremely feminine and special when she sports the Besame product or opens here purse to powder her nose or touch up here lipstick. Dainty and decorative.

I'm not gonna lie, the vintage packaging got me! So cute. Also it's difficult to find transluscent powder that is finely-milled enough yet oil absorbing enough yet not too drying for my combo/oily skin. This powder is really nice. It doesn't settle into lines and it sets my makeup nicely and keeps my oil at bay for longer than most powders. I will say the sifter sucks and doesn't dispense enough powder... it's really annoying so next time I'll get the pressed version of this powder. I will purchase again!

I was a little nervous about putting a violet powder on my face, since I have a yellow undertone, but....this powder is great. I put it on over my tinted moisturizer for a smooth, even finish and I am really happy with the way my skin looks and feels. it does not look chalky and doesn't settle into my pores, but instead seems to make them less visible. For the record, I am closer to 50 than 40, and I am very happy with Besame products.

Unfortunately I will return this because it contains Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate which has been found to be toxic. It causes developmental/reproductive toxicity (reproduction and fertility); birth or developmental defects; contamination concerns such as arsenic, lead and heavy metals; and neurotoxicity and organ system toxicity. I should have done more research on the ingredients before I ordered this but I was in a rush.

The powder smells nice but as far as coverage it seems like any other pressed powder. Really did not live up to its claims.

My mother used this powder for most of her life. It isn't heavy or cakey. Very light yet with a good finish for the skin
