Well worth the price!
I've always used Craftsman for my ratchets because of their no-fault return policy. I lost one of my ratchets so I decided to try a different brand. The Crescent brand seems to be very durable and I like the 72 tooth gearing for removing bolts in tight spaces. The finish is excellent and the grip and length is perfect for my day-to-day work. I recommend trying this ratchet. It's well worth the price!Update (7/17/2019). I am changing my rating from 5 stars to 1. I needed to loosen a bolt that was stubborn. After supplying ample force (no extension was used), the ratchet thumb switch would disengage causing the ratchet to release. I tried multiple times and the ratchet failed each time. I've never had a Craftsman ratchet do this. The Crescent ratchet is a worthless tool for stubborn bolts. I don't recommend buying this unless you like having your knuckles busted up.

Nice little addition to my tool tote!
This review is for the Crescent CRW0 1/4" drive ratchet (sometimes product reviews get lumped together on Amazon, it's good to know exactly what's being reviewed).I bought the Crescent 1/4" drive to keep in my "go to" tool tote, the one that has a bunch of 'general fixit' project tools in it, so it's not destined to be used in a professional setting. Sometimes one gets tired of using a screwdriver type handle to use on 1/4" bits and using a ratchet can speed things up considerably. The fit and finish are acceptable - the handle is a nice fit in one’s hand and allows for a good grip. However, on my copy the retaining flange (or whatever the technical term really is) above the directional flipper is a bit rough and, if pressed with one's thumb, isn't all that pleasant to touch. I've not actually cut myself on the sharp edge, but I know when I've touched it. YMMV, this may be a production variance and other examples of the tool may not have this issue. I think a little work with a Dremel will take care of the sharp edge on my Crescent ratchet. The directional flipper is not as solid as I'd like to see it - there's some ambivalence and one has to make sure that the flipper is in the proper position. It's possible to have the flipper midway between "tighten" and "loosen" without realizing it. I have other ratchets which have a much more positive feel to them. The 72 tooth design allows for movement in the tightest of quarters. Of course that means that the toothed gear may not be as strong as, say, a 36 tooth design of the same size. However, one doesn't expect to "lean into" a 1/4" drive ratchet, it's more of a precision device than, for instance, a 1/2" drive ratchet. For the market price and taking into consideration that the Crescent comes with a lifetime warranty, I feel it's a sold 4-star product and a reasonable value.HTHRegards,Jim

Very good ratchet for the price.
Considering the price point and Amazon Prime free shipping, it's hard not to like this ratchet. It's not a professional's tool as there is a little bit of back slap on the 72 tooth drive, but this tool is more than adequate for the DIY or garage mechanic. If the internals are anywhere near the quality of the external appearance this will have been a good purchase. The machining, chrome finish and function of the ratchet are really really good. The ratchet has some heft to it and that makes it feel like it a high quality tool. I like that the handle is just a little bit longer than the handle on some of my older Craftsman, Matco and Snapon ratchets.Don't get me wrong this isn't one of those higher dollar ratchets mentioned above, but you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference unless you earn a living out of your tool box.

Good value tool
Comparable wrenches were around $40 at my local home store but I felt like this can do the same job. Used it to bust loose some lugnuts that were somehow torqued down to 200 lb ft and with a 4’ breaker bar it did the job without breaking. Length feels good, comparable to my ancient 36 tooth 1/2” drive it’s replacing. My biggest gripe is that the ratchet teeth are exposed on the top of the ratchet. No plugs or covers make me feel like they fell out somehow because it makes no sense for them to be visible to get grease and grime inside. Two 1/8” holes that could have been covered. I put a small sticker over each hole.

Very nice ratchet.
Worked great as a replacement for a craftsman. At one point craftsman used to be some thing in tools but they have gotten to be almost worthless these days compared to many off brands. In my book this is right up there with snap on tools it has more teeth allowing for shorter strokes in small cramped spaces and works perfect and durrable. I am a mechanic by trade have been for many many years but don't like to shell the money out for the big brands like snap on when there is alot of companies like this that are just as good.

my harbour freight ratchet works better than this one
I was expecting at least craftsman quality, but to be completely honest, my harbour freight ratchet works better than this one. It loosens itself up quite a bit after a couple uses and the switch will make its way in between on and off and make the ratchet a nightmare to deal with during repairs.

Inaccurate length
I'm returning this because the length is not as described. The one that is supposed to be a bit over 10 inches long is actually about 7 7/8 inch long. Not useful for me. 4 stars cause it seems like a good wrench anyway.

Ok ratchet "for the money"
First, the 1/4" drive, soft grip ratchet is not the advertised length of 21.6cm, but is in fact 17cm (6 5/8") in length. Second, I will be returning and re-ordering this ratchet as there is a problem with the mechanism. The ratchet rotates in 72 equal increments in the one direction, but something is wrong with one of the pawls, as it rotates only 36 increments in the other direction, hopefully a ratchet from a different batch will remedy this. Other than the problems mentioned, the ratchet appears to be a very nice piece "for the money", with a comfortable plastic and rubber overmold handle, excellent chrome finish and decent construction. Normally a plus for hand tools is the fact that the ratchet is made in Taiwan. At 25mm longer than my 20 yr old Crescent 1/4" ratchet, this ratchet will provide adequate leverage for 1?4" drive sockets.edit: I now have a "FrankenWrench", having taken the mechanism from my older 1/4" Crescent wrench and used it to replace the noisy, clunky newer mechanism. It seems that APEX is no longer supporting this tool division the way they did 20 yrs ago. Such is the way of the international tool company with competing brands.

Product length description is not even close
I bought the CRW0 model which states an overall length of 7.95".The actual measurement is closer to 5.25"...That's almost 2.5" shorter than described.Buyer beware.

Misleading ad
I bought Cresent CRW1 ratchet, while the product appears to be well build and reasonably priced, the actual length of the tool is nowhere near claimed length. CRW1 was advertised as 8.5” long and 2” head width. Be aware, these are the package sizes not the tool sizes. The actual tool size is 6 3/4” length and 1” head width. The manufacturer’s description should be corrected to reflect the actual tool size.
