J5 Tactical Pen - 4 in 1 - Black Ball Point, Emergency Glass Breaker, DNA Collector, Personal Defence Device

It's okay and a decent price, but nothing to scream from the rooftops about. Honestly, if I'd seen this in person, I don't know that I would've bought it. As a pen, it works. It writes and if you have an issue with the way it writes the ink is refillable so you can go buy your favorite ink refill and use it. Ditto for the color of the ink. It works as a pen, and seems to be well made as a pen. If this were only a pen, I'd give it 4 or 5 stars. But this is a tactical pen. As a tactical pen, I'm not impressed. First, it's heavier, a little longer, and a bit wider than other similar items. Kind of makes it a little unwieldy, or at least a bit heavy to ride in a pocket. And secondly, the clip came way bent out away from the pen, and the clip itself is thin and of lesser quality than the rest of the pen. There's no way to bend it into shape without changing it for the worse, so the clip, which is important, is entirely useless.Those are my beefs and findings, but I have the suspicion that as this is kind of a cheap made in China type item, quality control isn't really there and maybe you'll get a fantastic one and maybe you'll get a 3 star or less one, know what I mean?

I bought this pen and the Outer gear tactical pen to compare. At first I liked this one better because it is thicker and I have big hands. However I have it to my wife for that same reason. Her J5 has barely been used and still looks new (great quality of build) and my Outer gear is worn and pealing... however I have mine in my pocket everyday and travel around the US 6 months a year. The pen travel with me on planes.Even with the little use the J5 stopped working and is now jammed. No amount of force can get the pen to come out.Also compared to the Outer gear the tip that is shapr also has the clip side of the pen which o think is a design flaw. That means you may or may not be able to use the pen as defense effectively in case of emergency. Depending on how the situation develops you might at best scratch someone and makes them mad. Where the Outer gear has the top on the opposite side of the pen. Allowing you to truly use it for defense.ProsThick, heavy... seemingly good quality (except the pen side).ConsDesign flaw, tip unscrews too easy you can actually loose the sharp side at any moment, premature pen twist failure.Over all, the Outer Gear pen actually was designed with self-defense in mind... and is primarily a self defense tool where the J5 focuses more on how to give equal value to the pen side

I haven't decided if I am keeping this or not. The pen is ok, not bad, not great. I think I would prefer a stronger tip without the window breaker on the end, I like to place my thumb on the end to get a better grip if I needed to use this as a defense tool, with the window breaker you cannot do that. I also thought I had ordered one with a light at the window breaker side but that was my fault for ordering the wrong one. All in all it is ok but there are better ones out there for sure.

Great pen, everything is as shown in the description. The only thing I would like to see change is the clip that holds it in place, mine is not very tight so it doesn't hold onto pocket very well. I'll have to do some tweaking to it but other than that I'm happy with it. And delivery was very fast as usual with Amazon.

Pen is sturdy and writes well. I only used it for a day and it ran out of ink. Waiting on refill now. Other then the initial ink issue its a good pen. Also its bigger then you would think it was in the picture. It still fits in a uniform pen pocket.

Great tactical pen, but not a pen. The pen does everything it say it will do great, except the pen part unless you buy the refill. The one that came with the pen for me dried out way too quick and I had to order refills. Once I have taken it apart to put in the refill for some reason it will not work right either. Great tool, but these things are usually made in China some where so the workmanship is no the greatest.

Pen has a good weight. Twist mechanism is tight but smooth. Operates nicely. The clip could be tighter and I wish the barrel was knurled on the bottom of the pen like it is on the top. This would improve the grip for both writing as well as for defensive use.
