Little Big Books: Illustrations for Children's Picture Books Hardcover – August 7, 2012

The media could not be loaded. Little Big Books is a wonderful collection of work from 100 illustrators and creators of children picture books. That's 240 pages in this big beautiful hardcover book.The illustrations are fun, playful and diverse. There's an appealing childlike simplicity to them. Each illustrator has a profile and there are five interviews talking about the psychology of children picture books, awards, and advice on publishing rights and licensing.It's a great book for children book illustrators and those looking for inspiration on drawing for children.(There are more pictures of the book on my blog. Visually, this is a fabulous book and beautifully made, a good showcase of contemporary illustration in this genre. However, as an illustrator myself, I would have liked information as to the media used by these artists and, when foreign language book titles are given, an English translation. Mainly it's the lack of info on media - which I can often guess at - that disappointed me, and I don't see any reason to have left it out. Seems pretty basic for an art book.

Oh, How I love this book! I got it for an amazing price and crossed my fingers that it would be good. There is so much inspiration to be had for any artist especially aspiring children book illustrators. Every page has something amazing to behold and it's a thick book. A favorite in my ever expanding art book collection.

This is a large book & the illustrations are a delight! A pleasure to view. I am much more cognizant of what is happening in the field, but apart from that... I simply enjoy perusing this book. It brings a smile to my face. I always loved Children's Picture Books as a child & continued to read them into adulthood & later to my own child. This was a purchase of the heart & I was not disappointed.

An interesting way to talk about the album books, and the intentions of what so many illustrators have in their minds.

Everything is just great!!

Great variety of new illustrators. May be dated like an annual in a few years. I would like to see a new version every 5 years.

Such a BEAUTIFUL book!!!

I bought this book for some inspirational research I am doing as a graphic designer and I must say that it doesn't disappoint. It is a great work and showcases some really brilliant illustration. Robert Klanten's books are always put together with so much love - I will be enjoying this for many years to come. I highly recommend this for graphic designers and illustrators who want to see what's going on out there. Robert Klanten has done a great job at pulling it all together for you!

If you (like me) think this book will tell you how to illustrate for children's picture books and give you tips and tricks on your journey, you will be disappointed. But on the other hand it has a really lovely and great collection of illustrators who illustrate for children's picture books, and they have become very inspirational to me! So i love the book anyway, there are many lovely drawings in this little big book!

A lot larger than expected- which was a good thing! I initially saw this book at Premiere Vision and was more double the price so was pleased to find it on Amazon! The book has lots of visuals and background information on each illustrator. Well worth the price and a beautiful book.

I haven't had this book long but it has lots of lovely examples of peoples work. Interesting interviews and articles. Really nice feel to the book. Glad to own it and looking forward to getting back to it.
