Although this radio is not cheap the quality seems very good with the wood veneer, it looks good. The sound is excellent for both AM and FM and very clear and sensitive to am stations far away and I mainly only listen to AM. The lighted dial is a good feature for night. Loud enough for big rooms. Although I don't intend to use this for blutooth I tested it out and connected first time no problem and sound is fantastic. I opened it up and found that the speaker has a big magnet not the cheap small ones you find in cheap radios and that results in better sound so another reason why the radio is not cheap. The detail on the outside cabinet is excellent making a good looking radio that can be part of furniture which is what the radios of those days were so this can be used in living room due to stunning appearance. The knobs seems flimsy though so I wouldn't bang it around or have a young kid play with it. Overall worth the high price and seems reliable but sound is excellent for AM FM and blutooth.

There are a lot of well written reviews for this radio already so I won't repeat them. I'll just say a word about the sound quality and ease of use. Some find it difficult to tune. I find it easy. I live in a crowded radio market with lots of adjacent stations and I am easily able to discriminate between them. There is more volume available with the radio than with the bluetooth connection. I find this is the case on many such devices and not an issue particular to this radio. The volume in both modes is adequate for the largest room in my house. The reception is excellent. I live in a canyon where AM reception is iffy, but the AM reception on this radio is good — better than my Bose Wave. Speaking of which, many have compared the sound quality to a Bose Wave radio and indicated that this radio comes up short. It must be said, however, that this radio is NOT stereo and doesn't pretend to be, and the cost is a tenth of that of a Bose radio with streaming. I will also say that the quality is much closer to a Bose radio than a Bose radio is to a "real" stereo with separated left and right speakers. I am surprised at how many reviewers bought this radio, with its vintage look, to listen to vintage radio programming. Me too! It's great for that. Great for podcasts and audiobooks as well. And finally, yes, it is too bad the dial is not lit in bluetooth mode. The radio looses some of it's charm when the dial is dark, and let's face it, charm is part of the appeal for anyone who would be interested in this. I'm handy, so maybe I'll open it up and have a look at adding an LED to the dial that comes on with the bluetooth indicator. ETA: with the help of Mask Maker's review, I was able to modify mine so that the radio dial lights are on whenever the unit is switched on. See my photo . . .
