I have used this teak mat daily for more than two months, and it is a complete godsend. Here's the story.I have a high-quality walk-in shower with a seat at the end opposite the water controls and shower head. The only problem with the shower installation is that the floor can become slippery. When I installed a new water softener—a necessity in this region with water high in lime content—the possibility of slipping and falling became more pronounced. I started to look for a solution, and eventually found this teak mat. It is a perfect solution, and here's why:1. I measured carefully, and this fits the floor of my shower perfectly, with just enough spare room to lift the mat when I need to. MEASURING CAREFULLY is the secret. The published dimensions are accurate.2. This mat is extremely well made of clear wood. All the wood components are cut to exact length and machined so that there are no rough edges and no possibility of splintering. They are sanded to perfection.3. All the lumber is of the proper thickness (3/4", or "1-x") to provide a sturdy weight-bearing platform, including the several supporting members on the bottom of the mat.4. The screws are all stainless steel, and of the correct gauge and length. All screws are installed straight and true from the bottom.5. There is adequate drainage space between the members of the mat, and the pattern in which they are installed is attractive.6. The final finish is well-applied. To be sure, the user needs to use some teak oil to maintain the finish from time to time, but this is true of any wood product used in a moist environment. I've oiled mine once, and it took less than 10 minutes.7. My shower is well drained and the bathroom well ventilated. The mat dries quickly (within less than an hour), and I have yet to see any hint of mold of any sort (believe me, I check!). That's one of the benefits of teak in general.8. Unlike a few other reviewers, I have seen no signs whatsoever of staining from this mat, and my shower is light in color. No stains. Zero. Nada. Zip.9. The mat is comfortable underfoot, and not at all slippery while still being easy to stand and move on.The people who make this mat are clearly professional woodworkers, careful with their work, and proud of what they produce. Their pride is justified.While this mat costs a bit more than some others here on Amazon or elsewhere on- or off-line, you get what you pay for. I have no question whatsoever that I made the right choice with this teak mat, and I would buy it again in a heartbeat. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

My recently remodeled bathroom has a 5' white Kohler Tresham shower enclosure. After slipping a few times, I decided to get an anti-skid mat for it. The surface is cobbled, so the usual rubber-mat-with-suction cups might not adhere. A teak mat seemed a better idea. This fits perfectly, really enhances the appearance of the shower, is comfortable, and eliminates any chance of my feet slipping! The unit has round black feet underneath to keep it from sliding on the base and facilitate drying beneath it.Another reviewer reported a problem with the finish of this unit staining his shower base. Sure enough, when it arrived the smell of the finish (teak oil?) was strong. At a friend's suggestion, I put it out on my patio for 3 sunny summer days, flipping it periodically, to bake the finish into the wood (and also reduce the odor). After 3 days of use there is no sign of staining of my white shower base.This unit is cleverly designed so that there are no mitered 90 degree joints on the upper surface, just straight pieces of wood screwed to base strips underneath. So no joints to come apart, no areas to trap soap (and of course easier to manufacture!).

I didn't buy this for a shower. I travel in a motorhome a lot and I was afraid my dog would fall down the stairs leading to the outside door. Problem solved, Very sturdy, fits perfectly, and stows easily.

We ordered two for our shower since the tile outside was slippery due the shower water getting everywhere. It does what it supposed to do as far as keeping our feet off the slippery tile and it seems well built and sturdy. My only complaint, which is why it's 4 out of 5 stars is that when it's wet, the stain bleeds off and gets on the grout/tile underneath, so I have a feeling it's staining the grout, which might be a pain in the butt to clean. Time will tell if that wears off or not.

It’s large and raised higher off the ground than expected, that being said it’s a beautiful mat for your bathroom and dries quickly
