I received an instreamer 100 part number 2012.8076 from another dealer in february 2016. what are the best mpeg settings? audio has been poor so far.

If you bought the device in 2016, then you have an "Instreamer", not an "Instreamer-100". I would suggest setting the device to MPEG1 48khz, VBR, quality 7. You can also choose MPEG1 48khz, CBR, 320kbps, but then make sure to set the bit reservoir mode to "used" instead of "kept empty".There are some who refuse to use anything except uncompressed PCM at 48khz, but then you will use a TON of bandwidth. definitely not something I'd do over the internet unless you have a big pipe.

It would depend on whether you are sending a signal to Shoutcast (use an Instreamer $195) or if you are receiving a signal from Shoutcast in which case you would want to use an Exstreamer 100 ($195) or 110 ($249) (has an LCD display) decoder at your end.
