A solid group
First heard this CD in the 1990s when I was in high school. We were hosting a foreign exchange student from Spain and this was one of the CDs she brought with her. I'm amazed at how long it took to be released in the U.S., because I was looking for this CD for years. The other reviews say it all, this is definitely one of their top releases, at least for me. Each song stands alone, providing a "radio variety" listening experience.

El Primero Grupo Español
Aidalai. . From this album I first heard "El Siete De Septiembre" on the radio show Las Quarantas Principales (I believe their version of The Top 40 Show) whilst in an extended period of living in Spain. Not knowing anything about Spanish music output, either popular or traditional, I was blown away by this song I immediately sourced the album from whence it came, Aidalai. I even remember the price, 3496 pesetas!Every song on this album from start to finish is a masterclass in music. "El Fallo Positivo", sombre but poignant sets the tone of the album, Ana's voice chilling but sweet at the same time. The pace is picked up with "El Uno, El Dos, El Tres" , "Bailando Salsa", fantastic pieces of art. Then the album reverts back to the haunting melodies and soothing notes which seem to abound making it an album to have on repeat from start to finish. I can't actually say that any of the tracks are bad at all, everyone of them is astounding. My favorite tho' is "Dalai Lama", followed very closely by "Sentia", Bailando Salsa" and "El Fallo Positivo"This album alone is responsible for me checking out everything else which Mecano have done, sadly they stopped performing just after this album and I never got a chance to see the live. I do however now have their entire back catalog to reminisce with, reminding me of a fabulous period of my life in a wonderful country. Mecano are within my top ten of music artists and if it's just one album you buy of theirs', buy Aidalai. If you do, you won't just stop there, they're addictive! And altho' I don't swing that way, Ana Torroja is one sexy woman! ;-)

A couple of outstanding tunes and some so-so stuff
I have both the French and Spanish versions of the CD, and speaking French, I prefer the latter (although not all the titles are in French) Expecting something like spectacular Descanso Domicale (get the import version), I was a little disappointed. A number of the songs seem to sound the same, and not all that interesting on top of that. However, it contains two songs which are among the best ever written (IMHO): Naturaleza Muerta (Nature Morte in French) and Tu (Toi). There are also about 3-4 other pretty good songs, but these two make the whole thing worth buying.
