Extremely solid keypad, and the "intelligent programming" feature is a must have
I bought this keypad as a retrofit. The previous owners of a house we bought had killed the security panel at one point and never fixed it. So I installed a new Honeywell panel and keypads and have been getting everything back online. I've done all the research, so hopefully this will help some of you. This keypad is excellent. I didn't need all the sophistication of a touchscreen, which comes ready to integrate with Honeywell home automation equipment, so basic keypads are all I need.I haven't ever tried to program a panel without the "Vista Intelligent Programming" feature, but I can say that programming the panel *with* this keypad's VIP feature was relatively straightforward. I'm an engineer and tend to want to do things myself, and it didn't take me more than a little research and a few passes through the programming manual to figure out how to get all my zones programmed using this keypad.I got the "RF" version so that I could hook up a few doors that had bad wiring. The RF programming was straight-forward and the signal reaches everywhere in my 6300 sq foot house, so it seems the range is pretty solid. I know range is affected by wall construction and other RF interference, though, so your milage may vary. All in all, I'm definitely glad I purchased this unit.

Works well, puts the receiver in a convenient location, and easy to install
Have been wanting to add an upstairs keypad to my system for a while, and recently also started having some problems with newer key fobs not being picked up by the receiver in my basement when used from my driveway (it gets pretty annoying having to keep mashing the button or stand in specific places for it to go through). So I added this to my system to kill two birds with one stone - get an additional keypad, and move my receiver from the basement.Installation was easy. I powered down the panel and removed the batteries, then disconnected the original keypad. This didn't mount on the same back-panel / mounting plate as the 6160V it was replacing, but the back-panels had their screw holes in the same location, so I was able to re-use the same drywall anchors. The new keypad is wired to the ECP bus the exact same way as the original one, so that was a quick connection, re-using all the original wiring. Then I disconnected the original receiver (on a Vista 20P you can only have one receiver) and powered everything on. The default settings work as-is for being the primary keypad and receiver on a Vista 20P, but programming the keypad to double-check everything is quite simple (just hold two buttons at start-up - it's detailed in the included instructions). At this point I haven't tried the Vista Intelligent Programming (VIP) as my panel does not have the required PROM. However, if you've programmed the Vista's before then you know the existing process is easy enough, but a bit cumbersome, so any improvement is welcome. The only thing I miss is the voice from my 6160V. However, that's a lot less crucial than a good RF signal for my key fobs, and when I re-install the original 6160V upstairs, I'll have voice announcements from there.

No Brainer
This keypad was a no brainer for my Vista 21IP panel. The combination RF and keypad provided me with both a method to program and use the system and use a host of RF products.Using this with the newer VISTA panels made programming simple. The keypad backlight allows you to see the panel in the dark and the backlight display (cool white LED) is very easy to read in any lighting condition.

Must have for VISTA Programing
Delivered quickly and works as expected. Price rocked, VISTA 20p up and running. I needed Thai to program a new install, I did not use the preprogrammed macros in the keypad, but should have.RF model for future expansion. For the price point.difference... Get the RF one.

Nice keypad that shows additional information compared to a one line display
Used this keypad to setup and then use a Honeywell 21ip panel with the help of the alarm company (alarm grid). It works well, the screen is clear, and having more information on the screen should help locate the intrusion if there was an alarm activation while someone was home and near the keypad.

great diy keypad!
I used this to replace a keypad for an adt system I no longer had monitored along with a vista 20p panel. Everything is working great and love the expandability the unit provides with wireless keyfobs!

Unhappy
The 6162RF was missing the 5881 RF receiver.
