Slower than stated, top heavy.
I previously bought a the thermoworks Super Fast Water-Resistant Digital Pocket Thermometer (a really nice device) to use for work, but the shape of the head made it too easy to dislodge from my chef coat and I broke one and lost one. I bought the TF1000 because I thought the shape of the head would be less obtrusive and it appears to be of very sturdy construction. Here are my issues with this thermometer:1. It's much slower than stated. While it's stated at 5-6 seconds, I timed it with a stopwatch and it's closer to 20-25 seconds to reach temp.2. It's top heavy. While it's stated as a feature that it has a large display all the weight is in the head. Also the sleeve is a very loose fit. It continually fell from my chef coat sleeve pocket or front pocket on my coat if I leaned over even slightly due to the large heavy head. Sometimes the whole thermometer fell out and times the sleeve stayed in the pocket and the thermometer slid out. This force me to move it to my pants pocket, which is where all my other thermometers go to die (usually from leaning over a counter or bumping into something in the kitchen and breaking where the probe meets the body). This will be my last "cheap" thermometer I buy. If I could have add up all the money I've spent on inexpensive thermometers for work over the last 3 years (5 or 6 units), I could have bought the Thermoworks Thermapen ($96). It's fast (1-2 seconds), rugged, reliable, NSF approved, accurate (every unit comes with a certificate of accuracy and is hand tested), foldable (no more broken probes) and the true "King" of professional thermometers and worth every cent.

Best thermometer on the market!!!
AWESOME THERMOMETER!!! I received this as a gift for Xmas after recently finding a steal of a deal on a Weber Genesis Grill (previous grill was a POS one from Lowes). And since this grill cooks food across the WHOLE cooking surface, This thermometer is a life saver. Cooking brats, pork chops, steaks, and burgers...it works for them all. Love the waterproof function in case I get it too wet while cleaning it. Also, it reads the temp so much faster that my old one I got at the "Made in China" store (BBB).This thing will last for years to come, and the battery looks to be very easy to change as well!!

I do like how it measures to over 400°--that was a key ...
Biggest complaint is that it is top heavy as another review stated. It does fall out of pocket on front of chef coat slides around in pockets on the sleeve of coat. It came DOA so I had to purchase a battery before I could even use it. Bummer. It is a little slow with temp. taking. But it will do. Just not wowed. I do like how it measures to over 400°--that was a key factor in purchase along with prime shipping.

Great ease of use, value and accuracy
We tried the fancy, more expensive wireless thermometers to monitor our grilled meats, but often they were fickle or just gave outlandish readings. The MeasuPro is cheap, easy to use and accurate. It lets me know exactly when my grilled meat is ready to get pulled off to rest. It really allows me to "nail the steak" every time. (Note that it does require opening the grill as the thermometer cannot be left in the meat.) In the past I had to rely on feel but different cuts have dramatically different feels as they approach doneness. This great tool removes the guesswork!

"Professionally" Dead since this is DOA
DEAD, DEAD, DEAD.... As in not functional from minute first. Points off for this, for sure. I HATE having to return items, even is there's no charge to do so. The entire convenience factor is GUTTED by nonfunctional devices, no matter how stellar they are "supposed" to be. Now, could I go out to some store and to batteries to see if replacing the batteries in this brand new "professional" food thermometer solves the problem? Sure. I shouldn't have to, though, and I don't want to chase batteries in my tourist-congested city any more than I wanted to chase this item!!Goods sold for professional working in commercial kitchens should at least be checked for FUNCTIONALITY before shipping (in my humble opinion)... who has time to deal with this stuff when working six shifts a week during the busiest season of the year?! NOT ME.

Unit worked fine once I changed battery which was not easy
Unit worked fine once I changed battery which was not easy. I had to buy a very small screwdriver to remove back cover and get to batteries. Batteries were simple cheap hearing aid batteries. The screw on cover had rubber gasget with some silicone grease to seal the compartment. This was probably to make is so it will go through dishwasher. With new batteries replaced unit works fine and has been through the dishwasher several times.

Fast and accurate. Should have bought this sooner
Works extremely well. A bargain at the Amazon price. Use it for baking and for roasting meat. Can't wait for BBQ season to give the excellent thermometer outside. The min/max feature is very useful as I find it difficult to place the probe optimally to measure thigh temperature while roasting a chicken, my problem finding the right spot not the probe's problem measuring.

ideal for those that drink green tea
Very good device. Mine arrived switched on and after switching it off and on again I was later to find that the auto switch off does not work. I still give it 5 stars as it is very accurate. I bought it to measure the temperature of the water when making green tea as it needs to be no more than 80°C and above 60°C. I can switch off my kettle when it gets to about 83°C and let it cool down for a few moments. Ideal for anybody who loves to drink green tea. And if you are spending that extra bit more on match green tea you might as well try and do it justice.Links in comments

Reliable instrument.
This thermometer does what it is supposed ot. It takes 4-5 seconds to reach the right temperature. It's good to have the automatic switch off not to waste batteries. The design is nice and sleek and the pen protector is nice too. Would have been nice if it was a little bit longer so you hand is further away from hot steam is you are measuring inside a bigger pan. Altogether, I reliable instrument.

Worth the money
Quick response time, useful little gadget, meant I could take the bird out of the oven earlier than I would have and it was lovely and moist as a result. Also I was much happier leaving the bird to rest for more than half an hour as I could see it was still surprisingly hot inside. Lovely crispy roast spuds, but I dried out the pigs in blankets, my fault; if I'd thought about it I should have used the thermometer on then too and taken them out earlier.

Great Item
A must have item if you are regularly cooking roasts!Simple to operate, and feels quite sturdy considering how delicate it looks. It would have been perfect if it came with a chart to tell you the correct temps for various meats, but 30 seconds on Google returns all the answers you need.Wish we had one years ago.

well measured
So far, my digital thermometer death count is 6. I buy them, and with in a month or so the readings are so wildly inaccurate that i managed to serve a raw roast chicken. Not good.On buying this one though the readings so far have been spot on, this coupled with a calibration option, means that this might actually avoid being binned! Yay!
