The famous Jew, Joan Rivers, used to say, "Can we talk?" before she'd launch into a joke about being candid about something.Can we talk about gelt?I don't think Hanukkah gelt has every been my favorite chocolate. It's usually way too sugary and waxy to really be very good. It's like Christian Easter chocolate. Honestly terrible. So keep your expectations realistic.The reason I'm giving these gelt coins five stars is that they are just like the gelt I grew up with, and they have the beautiful embossed gold foil. For that, they are the perfect chocolate gelt coins.

My son and his kiddies have been enjoying the delicious Chanukah gelt. Very happy with this purchase.

I'm really fed up with this order. I opened one of the coins and the chocolate looked like it had been frozen and then thawed out - probably left over from last year. Complete waste of money because not only did it look old old old but that piece tasted terrible.

These were very successful, although they lacked 2 traditional features: coins of various sizes and contained in little mesh bags to facilitate handing them out to family members. However, the fact that the one size is quite large -- who really prefers a smaller chocolate coin? -- is actually an advantage. And, simply handing out more than one of them per person takes care of the lack of containers. It also means less wasteful packaging and less opportunity for pets to eat the packaging.

Got this for my Hanukkah dinner in my dorm with friends. Their first time having gelt and they absolutely loved it. It’s a very rich chocolate, tastes more like chocolate than Hershey’s does, funny. I really liked these and definitely recommend. Good size pieces too.

This candy is really good. I am a chocolate lover and I love this chocolate. It is smooth and the taste is not too milky but not too bitter like dark chocolate. Very high quality chocolate!

We've gotten many different kinds of gelt over the years. Some were gourmet chocolates, some from the local grocery store. This particular brand was a family favorite. The chocolate was rich and the coins were large and all the same size. All the chocolates were wrapped and none of them were damaged (I bought three bags).
