Best in test.
I tested a number of wicks and fuels in Feuerhand lanterns to determine the difference in terms of brightness, longevity and smoke. These wicks worked the best with all fuels and required the least trimming. They are the most tightly woven of the wicks I tested. Let them soak a little longer initially for best results. Work with all fuels; K-1 will always burn brightest, but with paraffin oil (liquid paraffin with no scent) these burn the brightest and won’t smoke with proper wick adjustment.

Exactly what I needed for homemade IPA emergency lamps!
Exactly what I was looking for. I used this to make my own mini mason jar alcohol lamps to replace the store bought “100hr emergency” ones we use during power outages in the winter. They always burn so dirty and uneven leaving soot everywhere and a dirty feel/smell in the air. This wick placed in jars with an alcohol/distilled water mix burn steady, safe, super clean, and for a very long time.

Works perfectly in my 1850s oil lamp
The media could not be loaded. I bought this wick material for a flint glass oil lamp I found at an antique shop. The lamp was complete with a burner and chimney, but without wick material. This wicking works well in the lamp. The only thing I noticed is when the oil level in the font is about half-full, the flame burns very low because I guess the wick can't carry enough oil to sustain it. I don't think that's the fault but rather the design of the lamp. It's elegant because of it's slender profile, but because it doesn't have a shallow but broad font, it is sensitive to the oil level. As you can see in the video, the fount is very deep, which is probably why I need to keep it more than about half-full.

nice to have
you never know when your wick will run out, I have packs of precut wicks.. but this is very handy for some that you may need extra long OR extra short. great value and they are well made

Perfect! Exactly what it says it was.
I had some old wick that was too big for my oil lamp. I looked on Amazon and found this. I wasn't sure how to measure wick, so I just broke out the measuring tape and measured the actual width of where the wick should go. I got 7/8". So, that's what I ordered. Got it fast in the mail. I took out the old wick and this stuff rolled right in. So, the actual measurement is correct. I soaked it in oil and lit my lamp and it works great. I didn't notice much black so I guess I am happy.

Compatible for Wolfard oil lamps
I have several Wolfard glass oil lamps that are over 30 years old. It has been getting harder to find cotton wick as fewer stores carry these anymore. I took a chance and ordered the 1/2 inch flat wick even though I didn't want or like the red stitching on the wick. Once I received it I realized that it was very easy to remove the red thread. It is a perfect substitute for the original Wolfard wick.

Fast shipping and item as described
Looks like a quality wick. A little thicker than I thought, but that’s good. Used in a number 2 burner but haven’t tried it yet.
